During the first round of the Republican presidential debates, while candidates like Carly Fiorina, Rick Santorum and Lindsey Graham talked about their pro-life views and records, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal stole the show with his comments about the Planned Parenthoood aborted baby sale scandal.
“Planned Parenthood had better hope that Hillary Clinton wins this election,” Jindal said in a line that received significant applause and was the subject of thousands of adoring tweets on Twitter.
Jindal continued: “Because I guarantee you, under President Jindal, January 2017, the Department of Justice, and IRS, and everybody else that we can send from the federal government, will be going into Planned Parenthood. This is absolutely disgusting, and revolts the conscience of the nation. Absolutely we need to defund Planned Parenthood. In my own state, for example, we launched an investigation, asked the FBI to cooperate. We just earlier this week kicked them out of Medicaid in Louisiana as well, canceled their provider contract, they don’t provide any abortions in Louisiana.”
Jindal said that, if the government is shut down because of a battle over taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, that pro-abortion President Barack Obama, who has said he refuses to sign a bill to de-fund Planned Parenthood, ought to get the blame.
“But in terms of shutting down the government, I don’t think President Obama should choose to shut down the government simply to send taxpayer dollars to this group that has been caught, I believe, breaking the law, but also offending our values and our ethics,” he said.
Jindal added: “Martha, it’s time for Republicans in DC to fight. Too often they give up, they negotiate with themselves, they said they would get rid of the unconstitutional amnesty, they didn’t do that. They said they would repeal Obamacare, if we gave them the majority, they didn’t do that either. They said they’d shrink and balance the budget, they haven’t done that. Absolutely, they should fight to fund — defund Planned Parenthood. And I don’t think the president should shutdown the government simply to send our taxpayer dollars to this group.”
In Louisiana, the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals informed Planned Parenthood it is exercising its right to terminate Planned Parenthood’s Medicaid provider agreement.
Governor Jindal said, “In recent weeks, it has been shocking to see reports of the alleged activities taking place at Planned Parenthood facilities across the country. Planned Parenthood does not represent the values of the people of Louisiana and shows a fundamental disrespect for human life. It has become clear that this is not an organization that is worthy of receiving public assistance from the state.”
Jindal’s office referenced the investigation he sought almost immediately after the first of four videos was released.
The governor said “multiple videos have surfaced showing Planned Parenthood Federation of America senior personnel and other employees describing how they actively engage in illegal partial birth abortion procedures and conduct these abortions in a manner that leaves body parts intact so that they can later be sold on the open market. Since these videos have surfaced, Governor Jindal has directed DHH to investigate Planned Parenthood’s activities in Louisiana and also sent a letter to both the Louisiana Inspector General and the F.B.I. asking them to assist in the investigation.”
As LifeNews reported, the first video of undercover footage shows Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, describing how Planned Parenthood sells the body parts of aborted unborn children and admitting she uses partial-birth abortions to supply intact body parts.
In the second video, Planned Parenthood doctor Maru Gatter discusses the pricing of aborted baby body parts — telling the biotech company officials that the prices for such things as a baby’s liver, head or heart are negotiable. She also tells the officials that she could talk with the Planned Parenthood abortion practitioners to potentially alter the abortion procedure to kill the baby in a way that would best preserve those body parts after the unborn child is killed in the abortion.
So far, 12 states have responded to the Planned Parenthood videos and launched investigations into their abortion and organ harvesting business including South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Kansas, Missouri, Arizona, Indiana, Ohio, Georgia, Texas and Louisiana.
