In Virginia, Republican Chairman John Whitbeck is urging pro-abortion Governor Terry McAuliffe and Attorney General Mark Herring to investigate the state’s Planned Parenthood abortion facilities in light of the three videos showing their executives negotiating the sale of fetal body parts collected from abortions.

In a press release, Chairman Whitbeck said, “The latest videos are truly shocking to the conscience. I do not understand how Governor McAuliffe can be ‘disturbed’ by these videos but not be willing to order his PAC to return funds received from Planned Parenthood. At the very least, our Governor and Attorney General need to launch an investigation into the organization’s practices in Virginia so our citizens can be assured that nothing like what is depicted in the videos is happening in our Commonwealth.”

He added, “Our leaders in the House of Delegates, three different Congressional Committees and multiple state Attorney Generals have called for an investigation or are actually investigating Planned Parenthood. Even the Democrat Governor of Pennsylvania is launching a review of Planned Parenthood facilities in his state to ensure they are not selling harvested organs. Why won’t Virginia Democrat elected officials do the same?”

Previously, Virginia’s governor has rejected calls for an investigation.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe is rejecting calls from Virginia House Republican leaders for an investigation into how Planned Parenthood clinics handle fetal organs.

Republicans called for an investigation Thursday following an anti-abortion group’s release of a video showing a Planned Parenthood official discussing the disposal of body parts from aborted fetuses. The group said the video proves the organization is breaking federal law against selling human fetal tissue.

Planned Parenthood has said it only helps women legally donate fetal tissue to research firms, not sell it commercially.

A spokesman for McAuliffe, said the Democrat governor was disturbed by the video but said it shouldn’t be used as “fodder for political attacks on women’s access to health care.”

Planned Parenthood lists seven health centers in Virginia on its website.

As LifeNews previously reported, a total of 9 states have already launched investigations into Planned Parenthood including Massachusetts, Kansas, Missouri, Arizona, Indiana, Ohio, Georgia, Texas and Louisiana and members of Congress have launched an investigation as well.

Although there are many unanswered questions surrounding the legality of selling or “donating” aborted babies’ body parts for research, there are a few things that are very clear. Planned Parenthood’s abortionists have altered abortion procedures to obtain salable parts for harvesting; their affiliates charge per specimen with some body parts, such as livers and heads going for a much higher price; and there is some kind of financial incentive that encourages affiliates to harvest fetal organs.

Remarkably, the state Senator of Virginia, Tim Kaine, did say that the Planned Parenthood videos were “very troubling” and ought to be looked at” even though he’s pro-abortion. Hopefully, Governor McAuliffe and Attorney General Herring will acknowledge the same and consider defunding their business in Virginia.

Unfortunately, Gov. McAuliffe is not “moderate” on abortion and even supports late-term abortion. In the past, he has opposed non-invasive ultrasounds and parental consent prior to abortion as well as the federal ban on partial birth abortion.

Chairman Whitbeck concluded by urging every Democrat to stop supporting Planned Parenthood. He said, “Finally, I call on every Democrat elected official and candidate running for office to denounce Planned Parenthood. The practices in these videos are barbaric and, simply put, evil. For anyone to continue to proudly stand by Planned Parenthood now is indefensible.”
