Planned Parenthood CEO Defends Selling Body Parts of Aborted Babies: “We’re Sorry About the Tone”

In a new video responding to the enormous backlash over an expose’ video showing that her company sells the body parts of aborted babies, Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards apologizes for the tone the employee took but not for selling the body parts of aborted babies. Another shocking video exposing Planned Parenthood selling aborted babies is expected next week.

Richards apologized for the “tone and statements” of the top Planned Parenthood medical official caught on an expose’ video discussing for two hours how the abortion business sells the body parts of babies brutalized by abortions.

“In the video, one of our staff members speaks in a way that does not reflect that compassion. This is unacceptable and I personally apologize for the staff member’s tone and statements. As always, if there’s ever any aspect of our work that can be strengthened, we want to know about it, and take swift action to address it,” Richards says in the just-released video.

“Our top priority is the passionate care that we provide,” Richards adds.

Richards also doubles down on her defense of selling parts of aborted babies for medical research — calling the body arts “tissue” that contributes to “life-saving research.” She claims the sales are never done for profit and that the consent of the women who agree to sell their aborted baby is contained.

“I want to be really clear. The allegation that Planned Parenthood profits in any way from tissue donation is not true,” Richards adds.

Richards condemns the “secretly-recorded, heavily edited video,” but never admits that the full unedited two-hour long video footage has been released.

David Daleiden, of Center for Medical Progress, the pro-life organization behind the shocking video, responded in a statement to LifeNews about what Richards had to say:

In her video statement today, Planned Parenthood President and CEO Cecile Richards offers a strained and obfuscating “apology” for the admissions made on camera by Planned Parenthood’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, about Planned Parenthood’s harvesting and sale of aborted fetal hearts, lungs, and livers.

In video recorded just a few months ago, Richards praised Nucatola, Planned Parenthood’s lead medical officer, to CMP investigators, offering: “She’s amazing.” Today, Richards does not acknowledge Nucatola by name and refers to her only as a “staff member.” Has Nucatola been fired or demoted for facilitating body parts sales and using and training doctors in illegal partial-birth abortions?

We don’t know, and Richards won’t tell us. She only apologizes for Nucatola’s tone, but this is willful blindness to the real reason millions of Americans are outraged and at least 5 state governments and 2 Congressional Committees are now investigating Richards’ abortion business: Planned Parenthood exchanges baby parts for money, and uses barbaric late-term abortion methods to harvest the best organs, in flagrant disregard for the law. Did Richards not know about how Nucatola was overseeing Planned Parenthood’s abortion practice, or did she just not care until it became a public issue?

Without concrete action, Planned Parenthood’s “apology” is just a cynical and empty excuse–and an excuse that’s 3 days late. If they are truly sorry, they should immediately hand over all contracts with StemExpress and other fetal harvesting companies to law enforcement and Congressional Committees. A belated “sorry” is not enough for these deeds of baby parts trafficking and partial-birth abortion, these atrocities against humanity.

New undercover footage shows Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, describing how Planned Parenthood sells the body parts of aborted unborn children and admitting she uses partial-birth abortions to supply intact body parts.

In the video, Nucatola is at a business lunch with actors posing as buyers from a human biologics company. As head of PPFA’s Medical Services department, Nucatola has overseen medical practice at all Planned Parenthood locations since 2009. She also trains new Planned Parenthood abortion doctors and performs abortions herself at Planned Parenthood Los Angeles up to 24 weeks.

The abortion giant released a statement from a top official defending Nucatola and its practice of selling body parts of aborted babies, which it calls “tissue.” Here is the Planned Parenthood press release.

Over the last few days, nearly every Republican candidate for president as well as countless lawmakers have expressed their outrage regarding the video and called on Congress to defund Planned Parenthood.

The video, which has been seen by nearly two million people, reveals how the abortion giant sometimes alters their procedures to ensure high-quality “specimen” for organ harvesting.

Dr. Nucatola said, “You’re just kind of cognizant of where you put your graspers, you try to intentionally go above and below the thorax, so that, you know, we’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m going to basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”

The abortionist also explains that Planned Parenthood charges per-specimen for baby body parts and is aware of their own liability for doing so. When asked about a price, she said, “I would say it’s probably anywhere from $30 to $100, depending on the facility and what’s involved.” Unbelievably, she admits that some body parts, such as livers and heads, are much more popular and go for a higher price than other specimen.

David Daleiden, the founder of the group Center for Medical Progress told CBS News, “Planned Parenthood is still receiving $50, $75, sometimes $100 per specimen per fetal part. So all of that is just straight up profit that goes to their bottom line.”
