Add Indiana Governor Mike Pence to the list of top state officials ordering state investigations of Planned Parenthood in the wake of a massive scandal involving it selling the body parts of aborted babies. Another shocking video exposing Planned Parenthood selling aborted babies is expected next week.

In the wake of a national controversy surrounding Planned Parenthood, Governor Mike Pence’s office announced it will  investigate the abortion giant after a shocking new expose’ video that caught Planned Parenthood’s top doctor describing how the abortion business sells the body parts of aborted babies. Meanwhile,  Congress is also set to launch an investigation.

Pence today directed the Indiana State Department of Health to investigate Planned Parenthood facilities in Indiana in cooperation with the Office of the Indiana Attorney General to ensure compliance with the law. He also wrote to the Indiana Congressional Delegation regarding the recent video referencing Planned Parenthood’s alleged trafficking of aborted fetal tissue.  He copied the U.S. Attorneys in the Northern and Southern Districts and county prosecutors in Marion, Monroe, Tippecanoe, and Lake counties, counties in which Planned Parenthood performs abortions.

“Every Hoosier should be deeply troubled by allegations that Planned Parenthood affiliates are engaged in the trafficking of human remains. If true, this is not only illegal, it is morally reprehensible. Under federal and state law, the buying or selling of human body parts is a felony and, as Governor, I have an obligation to make sure this is not happening in Indiana,” Pence said.

According to the statement LifeNews received, Pence continued: “For this reason, I have directed the Indiana State Department of Health to conduct an immediate investigation with the cooperation of the Office of the Attorney General of Indiana to determine whether Planned Parenthood affiliates in Indiana have engaged in any illegal activities with respect to the trafficking in or disposition of fetal tissue. Whatever one’s view on the issue of abortion, Hoosiers can be assured that we will make certain that this appalling practice is not taking place in Indiana.”

Excerpts from the letter include:

“At the state level, we will hold organizations that provide abortions the strictest standards and scrutiny, and we will continue to do all that we can to cultivate a culture of life in the state.”

“I understand that Congress will be conducting its own hearings and investigation into the practices discussed by the employees in the video, and I applaud the leadership in Congress for taking that step.”

Responding to Pence’s order for a probe, Indiana Right t Life told LifeNews.com that it supports Gov. Mike Pence’s announcement of an investigation of Planned Parenthood’s Indiana affiliates.

“The pro-life community is outraged by the video that shows a Planned Parenthood executive casually discussing the harvesting and trafficking of aborted baby body parts,” said Cathie Humbarger, Indiana Right to Life’s Vice President of Policy Enforcement. “We are grateful for Gov. Pence’s leadership. No Hoosier wants aborted baby body parts illegally obtained and sold. We believe this investigation requested by Gov. Pence into Planned Parenthood’s practices is important for the dignity of aborted babies and their mothers.”

The order follows an announcement that Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine will investigate Planned Parenthood in his state.

Governors of three other states are also looking into the selling of body parts from aborted babies and Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal have launched investigations in their states.

New undercover footage shows Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, describing how Planned Parenthood sells the body parts of aborted unborn children and admitting she uses partial-birth abortions to supply intact body parts.

In the video, Nucatola is at a business lunch with actors posing as buyers from a human biologics company. As head of PPFA’s Medical Services department, Nucatola has overseen medical practice at all Planned Parenthood locations since 2009. She also trains new Planned Parenthood abortion doctors and performs abortions herself at Planned Parenthood Los Angeles up to 24 weeks.

The abortion giant released a statement from a top official defending Nucatola and its practice of selling body parts of aborted babies, which it calls “tissue.” Here is the Planned Parenthood press release.

Over the last few days, nearly every Republican candidate for president as well as countless lawmakers have expressed their outrage regarding the video and called on Congress to defund Planned Parenthood.

The video, which has been seen by nearly two million people, reveals how the abortion giant sometimes alters their procedures to ensure high-quality “specimen” for organ harvesting.

Dr. Nucatola said, “You’re just kind of cognizant of where you put your graspers, you try to intentionally go above and below the thorax, so that, you know, we’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m going to basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”

The abortionist also explains that Planned Parenthood charges per-specimen for baby body parts and is aware of their own liability for doing so. When asked about a price, she said, “I would say it’s probably anywhere from $30 to $100, depending on the facility and what’s involved.” Unbelievably, she admits that some body parts, such as livers and heads, are much more popular and go for a higher price than other specimen.

David Daleiden, the founder of the group Center for Medical Progress told CBS News, “Planned Parenthood is still receiving $50, $75, sometimes $100 per specimen per fetal part. So all of that is just straight up profit that goes to their bottom line.”
