A group of pro-life advocates protested actress Sofia Vergara, after she defended wanting to kill her unborn children following a breakup with her fiance.

As LifeNews previously reported, Nick Loeb has filed a lawsuit against Modern Family actress, Sofia Vergara, in an attempt to stop her from destroying a pair of frozen embryos they created while they were engaged. In May 2014, the couple broke off their engagement after four years of dating.

A source close to Loeb explained that he didn’t want to see the embryos destroyed because he’s always believed that life begins at conception. The couple created the embryos through in vitro fertilization.

The lawsuit was filed under a pseudonym and states, “John Doe seeks to ensure that the Female Embryos are not destroyed, but Jane Doe [Vergara] refuses to agree to their preservation under all circumstances.” The lawsuit also alleges that Vergara was both physically and emotionally abusive toward Loeb.

Now, pro-life advocates have protested an event where Vegara appeared.

Sofia Vergara wasn’t met with the usual universal round of adoration at Thursday night’s Magic Mike XXL premiere in Los Angeles.

Instead, the 42-year-old Modern Family star was hit with a sea of pro-life protesters while supporting her fiance Joe Manganiello’s latest film. The group was holding banners and signs begging the actress to give her frozen embryos with ex-fiance Nick Loeb a chance of survival.

Vergara and Loeb have been in a highly publicized legal battle over two frozen embryos that were created using his sperm and her eggs while the two were still in a relationship. In the wake of their breakup last May, Loeb is suing his ex, claiming that the actress wishes to have to embryos destroyed, whereas he wants the legal right to attempt to bring the embryos to life via surrogate.

“Lives created should be lives protected,” one sign read. “Sofia: Unfreeze your daughters. Unfreeze your heart,” another one stated.

Rebecca Kiessling, a pro-life advocate representing the group Embryo Defense, talked about the reasons behind the protest.

“Nick Loeb and Sofia Vergara have two daughters who are currently frozen.  Nick wants to give them the opportunity to be born, per their original agreement, through a surrogate.  Sofia is now dating Joe Manganello, who is in the new film Magic Mike XXL, and they recently announced that they plan to go through IVF and have already picked out a surrogate,” Kiessling said.

She told LifeNews: “It’s quite disturbing that she is not even being responsible for the children already created and that she’s now engaging in serial IVF, with no regard for the dignity of those lives.  Partnering with Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust and 75 of their pro-life boot camp participants, we had nearly 100 demonstrators holding Embryo Defense signs and chanting “Sofia, unfreeze your daughters, unfreeze your heart.”

“Our goal is to educate on the value of every human life, regardless of how or where they were conceived.  On our website, we intend to be the resource for anyone seeking to protect embryos, including having legal brief banks, all court opinions, every state law pertaining to embryos, international law, personal stories, NaProtechnology information as an alternative to IVF, information on embryo adoption, as well as scientific, religious and philosophical articles,” she added.
