The pro-abortion movement is constantly saying that pro-lifers are promoting “bad science” because we support fetal pain legislation, which is based on countless scientific studies that prove unborn babies at 20-weeks have the capacity to feel pain. However, we’re not the ones denying basic human biology by describing unborn life in the womb as “tumors” or simply “unwanted growths.”
In a recent article in Salon.com, pro-abortion writer Amy Beeman explained that working at an abortion facility reaffirmed her pro-choice beliefs because she realized that all abortionists do is help remove “unwanted growths to preserve the woman’s chosen course.” Beeman’s first experience at the facility was observing an abortion and watching the abortionist’s assistant place the unborn baby in the “products of conception” jar.
“The girl was quiet and kept her wide eyes fixed on the ceiling. I stood above and to the right of her head, feeling like I had no right to be there. Before long the girl began crying out in pain as he did his work between her legs. The assistant explained to her that the doctor was manually dilating her cervix. She was moving around a bit as if her body was rejecting the pain and discomfort and the doctor and assistant told her in serious tones that she needed to be still. Once she was dilated enough, the doctor began the vacuum aspiration, which pulls the embryo from the uterus. The sucking noises during the aspiration sounded much like when they suck your spit at the dentist. Then, just like that, it was done and the noise stopped. The girl lay still, sobbing softly.
I followed my trainer to the lab where products of conception (P.O.C.) were inspected to make sure the doctor removed all the bits that, if left behind, could cause an infection. My trainer made a point to show me the tiny arms and legs floating in the glass baking pan. At 10 weeks and beyond, those appendages are formed and clearly recognizable.”
Despite the vivid truth directly in front of her, Beeman continued working at the facility because she believed in the bigger picture of helping women in need. In fact, after a year of working as an assistant, Beeman went on to be a “counselor” at the abortion facility. She felt like the job was rewarding because she helped women get through what she called “one of the most scary and awful experiences of their lives.”

Additionally, she said that abortion isn’t black and white because it’s “plucking a life from existence,” to use her words exactly. Yet, in another paragraph she contradicted herself by saying, “I started to see it from a purely biological standpoint. We were removing an unwanted growth to preserve the woman’s chosen course.”
Unfortunately, there are many abortion supporters who are comfortable acknowledging unborn life while simultaneously diminishing it because they say women need abortion. This is why it is extremely important that pro-lifers know that at 21-days-old an unborn child has a heartbeat and meets all of the criteria needed to establish biological life and secure its place in the human family. There is absolutely no question on when life begins and every scientific textbook out there will tell you that truth.
So what Beeman observed on a weekly basis was an abortionist removing human life from a mother while she held their hand. There is one thing she was 100% on point about though— it was the most awful experience of their life because it was the day they killed their baby.
