There is huge news today in regards to AB405, the bill to require an abortion clinic to notify one parent 48 hours before doing an abortion on her or her underage daughter.
Just today, one of our members received the following email from the governor below. He says that AB 405 has been re-refered to the Senate Health and Human Services Committee! This is what we have been hoping for!
Your calls, emails and postcards and prayers have made a difference. This is yet another step that this bill was not supposed to make and it just happened. We parents, grandparents and concerned citizens make a difference. Thank you for your efforts. Please see the governors letter and our further note below.
This is HUGE NEWS! We need to take a moment to celebrate. None of this would have happened with out all of our collective sustained efforts. So thank you, thank you, thank you. All of you.
Now, we will need to keep this strong effort going on all of our parts to pass this bill. There are still battles to come that will need your participation. This bill has been declared dead to the media many times. We will be communicating what’s next. For now we need to thank the following legislators for helping us get this far. Thank them for their efforts to get AB 405 re-referred to the right committee, the Health and Human Services Committee.
Assemblyman Ira Hansen 775-684-8851
Thank you everyone for your unrelenting efforts. None of this would happen without you. In a letter to the editor in today’s Reno Gazette Journal one of our spokespersons, Don Nelson, notes that it is the people-people like you-who are driving this legislation. If it were not for your prayers, your post cards, your emails, phone calls, telling others, forwarding information, this would have died last month just as the media and opponents have been saying.
Please stay tuned. There is more to come soon. The bill is in a new committee like we wanted. We’ll need your help getting it passed out of committee and then passed by the full Senate and sent to Governor Sandoval to be signed into law. Please thank the aforementioned legislators.
