Irish Parliament to Debate Repealing 8th Amendment Protecting Unborn Children

Deputy Ruth Coppinger has proposed a Bill calling for a referendum to repeal the 8th Amendment (Article 40.3.3) which is the only remaining constitutional protection for the unborn child in Ireland.  The Bill will be debated tomorrow, Friday, 8th May and is scheduled to be voted on next Tuesday.

In 2013, the Government introduced abortion throughout the full nine months of pregnancy in the case of threatened suicide, without any medical evidence to back it up.  This law is unjust enough. But at least it cannot be widened while Article 40.3.3 remains in place. The disgraceful way in which pro-choice advocates are calling for more abortion must be challenged head on.

Right now, your TDs and Senators need to hear from you.

Please take one minute to send a ready-to-go e-card to your local Oireachtas Member asking him/her to her to make pro-life points during the debate tomorrow and to vote against any repeal of the 8th Amendment.
