In a tragic story out of Arizona, a mother died earlier this year after giving birth to quadruplets.

Erica Morales and husband Carlos spent years trying to conceive and the couple finally achieved a viable pregnancy when Erica became pregnant with quadruplets after using in-vitro fertilization.

Then, something went terribly wrong. Erica was rushed to hospital with 190/90 blood pressure and, one month before her due date, she delivered three girls and a boy in Phoenix, Arizona, hospital. They are all alive and healthy.

Tragically, one hour after their birth, Erica passed away and doctors are now investigating the cause of her death. Sadly, she passed away before meeting Carlos Jr, Paisley, Tracy, and Erica.

Now, Carlos is dutifully taking care of his family in Erica’s absence. He recently shared how he and the kids are doing:

She left a prescription for how she hoped her quadruplets’ lives would unfold, but little else.

Erica Morales, who died shortly after giving birth to quadruplets, left her husband Carlos a road map for raising their children in the form of an iPad note that outlined her wishes for them to learn English and Spanish, attend college and get good jobs.

“I will try my hardest to make sure that happens,” said Carolos Morales

Morales is now caring for son Carlos Jr. and daughters Tracey, Paisley and Erica, the widower told People magazine.

Morales, a Phoenix manufacturing worker, discussed his efforts to cope with the tragic loss of his wife Erica, 36, who experienced severe blood loss and died early in the morning Jan. 16, shortly after doctors and nurses at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital delivered the quads via a C-section.

“I went from having the best day of my life to the next morning experiencing the worst day of my life,” Morales told People. “My four babies came into the world and then my wife died.”

Morales said infants Carlos and Tracey have come home from the hospital and that he visits Paisley and Erica — his wife’s namesake — every day.

Family friend Nicole Todman started a fund-raiser on GoFundMe. As of Monday morning, over 7,000 donors had given more than $253,000, according to the website.

Erica’s post on Facebook when she went into the hospital gave no clue that something terrible would happen.

She wrote on Facebook: ‘He said I have to get admitted until delivery. It’s been down lower today but it’s too late.”

“He will push deliver up or stall it to to 34 weeks. I’m 31 tomorrow. He said I did phenomenal. A poster child for quads. He wish they could all go this way but this last part we have to do it carefully because u can stroke out with bad blood pressure. I’m sure I won’t but he looking at how to finish things,” she added.

“I always want more but sometimes you just have to sit back and thank God for blessing up to this point and put it fully in his hands. Thanks for the prayers and everything else,” she said.

Distraught family members are now raising critically-needed funds for her husband and children. Close family friend Nicole Todman has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for Mr Morales, who now faces bringing up four children on his own.
