Young pregnant women often have abortions because of pressure or undue influence from their parents. When they find out they’re pregnant, they often dread telling their parents because of the potential for disappointment or even anger.

In one case, a young woman could have had an abortion after a negative reaction to her pregnancy from her father. But she didn’t.

Lucy Smith of the Living Hope Women’s Center in Arizona shares the compelling story with LifeNews.

Kyasia (below) came for a pregnancy test about five months ago.  She is 17 and her boyfriend is 20.  This beautiful, smart teenager was so reluctant to tell her father that she was pregnant.  When she finally worked up the nerve to tell him, he was very angry and upset.  He felt that her plans for college and a hopeful future were dashed.

“I finished high school in three years so his disappointment is understandable,” she said.

She wanted so badly for her good relationship with her father to continue.  I asked her if we could pray with her about this situation and she agreed.

Kyasia and Mangas chose life for their baby and have continued coming to the center for classes.  At 28 weeks pregnant. they requested a class on “labor and delivery”.    After going through “The Third Trimester” class, Kyasia said she felt less frightened and they both appreciated the information.  She also shared that God had answered those prayers for her relationship with her father.  Her Dad is being very supportive and is looking forward to his new grandchild!
