In 2014, an estimated 2.5 million people suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, and nearly 500,000 seniors die each year because of the disease. This makes Alzheimer’s disease the sixth leading cause of death in the United States.
Families that have relatives with the disease often struggle through conflict due to their loved one’s inability to remember details about their life and their family.
However, in this video, Forget Me Not, we see a man keep his promise to love his wife in sickness and in health, despite her disability.
He says, “I still remember the day I made a promise to care for you for the remainder of your days.” His wife does not recognize him or the love they shared together, but every day he reminds her of the things she loves, such as plants and trees, the color blue, and spicy curries.

This video is a beautiful example of how to love and respect the disabled, and a reminder that even in the midst of hardship, caring for the elderly, sick, and dying should be a guiding principle in our society.
