Feminist: Abortion is About “My Fundamental Right to Life”

The Left hasn’t got tired of the “War on Women” theme from the 2012 election cycle, just yet. In a May 15 episode of “AcronymTv” a left-wing internet broadcast part of The Young Turks Network, entitled, “The Catholic War on Women” and featured on The Huffington Post, show host Dennis Trainor Jr. brought on two radical feminists to discuss how to “take back the morality of abortion from the right-wing.”

Trainor asked guests Katie Klabusich and Kelly Carlin, “When do we get to a place where women cannot apologize for this [having an abortion], and be proud of this, be proud of the choice that they make?”

katieklabusichKlabusich responded, “I think we have to retake the morality of the issue, back from the right-wing.” The feminist activists went on to bash the pro-life movement’s efforts to restrict abortions. “The abortion rate doesn’t go down when you make it illegal, women just die … “I don’t apologize when I say it, It [abortion] should be apart of basic healthcare,” Klabusich asserted. “We have to take back the morality of the issue, the idea that it isn’t just about my controlling my body but it’s really just about my fundamental right to life, and the same options as everyone around me.”

There was also plenty of Bible-bashing. The beginning of the show features an image of a woman with her mouth taped shut and a verse from 1 Timothy, clearly taken out of context which says, “She must be quiet,” with the words “Woman, Shut Up,” beneath.

Taking what seems to be an increasingly popular tack with hard left abortion fans, Klaubusich also asserted in the program that God condoned abortion:

“Well there’s instructions in Deuteronomy on how to induce an abortion..” Klabusich said. In another bizarre statement, Kelly Carlin added that “For some reason, because it’s religious people, maybe, I don’t know, they get to have more First Ammendment rights than political protestors” when it comes to free speech.

Katie Klabusich went on to discuss her experience being called out as an abortion clinic escort by pro-life groups, and how she feared for her life as a result of her identity and location being made public. She decried, “If any organization that wasn’t Catholic put three American citizen’s faces on it and said, please pray for these people, even if that organization didn’t have a history of violence, people would be flipping out.”

Ironically, left-wing groups are infamous for doing this exact sort of public shaming to conservatives and right-wing religious groups. Think of the local New York paper that published the names and home addresses of local gun owners; or the Southern Poverty Law Center’s longstanding “hate map” which disproportionately targets conservative and religious groups such as the Family Research Council, which was then targeted by a left-wing activist.
