A newborn baby in California is fighting for his life after recently undergoing an emergency cesarean after suffering complications from an umbilical-cord prolapse.
Father James Maize told Sky News, “It was a choice between me and my wife if we wanted to try to save him or not and we decided that we wanted to try to save him; so, they rushed her back for a c-section. If he’s a fighter, you know, we want him to fight and make his own decisions.”
“It’s rough…just being able to sit there at his bedside and just pretty much whisper,” he said.
The little boy named Decklen was born nearly four months premature at St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley, California and he weighs just 14 ounces.
This is the second pregnancy in a row that Maize and his wife Carrie have suffered complications in, as they lost their daughter Serenity prematurely as well.
