Planned Parenthood’s Ultimate Offense to Catholic Women

Catholic women have endured many offenses from Planned Parenthood over the years.

Planned Parenthood of America, the nation’s largest abortion provider, has tried to undermine the authority of our shepherds, asserting that “the bishops don’t speak for all Catholics.”  It has asserted that the bishops want to “make American women second-class citizens” and that the bishops’ opposition to making abortion legal in countries overseas “endangers most women in the developing world.”  These are the men who have the power to forgive sins, to turn ordinary water into holy water that protects against evil, and to turn bread and wine into the very body, blood, soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ himself.

plannedparenthood101Planned Parenthood has made a mockery of the feast day of our beloved St. Patrick.  The Catholic League took to task a Connecticut Planned Parenthood center in 1999 for distributing green condoms which read, “Kiss Me I’m Irish,” “Put on the Green,” and “Four Leaf Cover” at the Connecticut state Capitol the day before St. Patrick’s Day.  And more recently, in 2014, a Planned Parenthood in Virginia hosted a “St. Patrick’s Day Condom Crawl.”

Planned Parenthood has celebrated the birth of our Lord with a “Choice on Earth” theme, turning the message of the angels to the shepherds at the time of Christ’s birth into a message promoting abortion.

Planned Parenthood has mocked our fellow Catholic women who have devoted their lives to Christ and His Church as Catholic religious sisters, with the anti-Catholic “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” being featured at two fundraising  events (promoted as “Bar Nun Bingo”) for the Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest.

Planned Parenthood has actively worked in direct opposition to the values supported by the Catholic Church — even opposing conscience protection for Catholic hospitals and other health care entities from being discriminated against because they refuse to participate in abortions.  In April 2011, Planned Parenthood of Collier County (Florida) hosted a “Prochoice Catholicism 101 Workshop” in which attendees would “learn the truth about Catholic teaching and abortion.“

But the greatest offense of all is that Planned Parenthood has the audacity to assert what the practices of Catholic women are, in response to the objections of Catholic entities to the Obama Administration’s heavy-handed HHS mandate.  The HHS mandate requires these Catholic entities to provide health coverage for certain drugs and procedures, even if it violates Catholic Church teaching.  Catholic entities have been forced to bring suit to protect their right of conscience against the HHS mandate.  For Planned Parenthood to act now as if it was the great defender of Catholic women – after all of their disrespect and mockery of our faith – is the greatest offense of all.
