Online for Life is a nonprofit pro-life outreach on a mission to rescue unborn babies and their families from abortion through a combination of technology and compassion.
Working with approximately 50 nationwide life-affirming pregnancy centers in 23 states, OFL comes alongside abortion-determined individuals on the Internet and provides them a means of reaching out to a nearby life-affirming pregnancy center where they can receive life-affirming counsel.
The recently released Online for Life Prayer App takes OFL’s — and the praying community’s — involvement to new levels. App users are notified to pray from the moment a woman (who at all times remains anonymous) connects with her local life-affirming pregnancy center. Since the launch of the new Prayer App in January of this year, thousands have rallied to pray on behalf of abortion-determined women and their unborn children in their moment of distress.
Participating life-affirming pregnancy centers have come to rely heavily on this praying community…Most recently, we heard from a life-affirming pregnancy center volunteer who described the intense moment when he answered a phone call from an abortion-determined woman…
The phone rang on a Saturday afternoon when we were short-staffed. Everyone else was with a client, and I was the only one at the desk. Do I really have to answer this? I thought. Even if I did have the training, how strange would it be for the caller to hear a man’s voice on the other end of the line? This is a pregnancy center, for goodness’ sake…surely they expect to hear a woman.
I froze, just hoping that the phone would stop. But it continued to ring. By now the caller ID had begun to scroll across the phone’s LED screen, and I glanced down to see the letters “ONL…” My heart sank. I recognized those letters — Online for Life. I knew exactly what that meant. These calls are only forwarded to us when women are strongly considering an abortion.
After several rings, I realized I had no choice — I must pick up the phone.
My deep bass voice actually cracked a little as I greeted the caller, “Hello?” Our conversation was mercifully short, but I will never forget the simple question she asked me, “Do you take walk-ins?”
Though our schedule was full and we were understaffed, could I even dare answer no? Could anyone really believe that the chance to spare the life of an innocent child might not be worth the “inconvenience” of working an extra hour on a Saturday afternoon? Hearing her ask this question actually choked me up.
My thoughts screamed, Yes! We will take you…God will make the room!
Well, this woman came in and got to meet with the center director. As they talked in the counseling room, it was quiet at the reception desk while I whispered and wept another prayer for God’s mercy.
Well, that mercy came…She chose LIFE! And it was no inconvenience at all.
Despite his fears, this life-affirming pregnancy center volunteer confidently answered the phone that day. He was likely steadied by the fact that his conversation was being prayed over — in that very moment — by thousands of OFL Prayer App users.
But the prayer support doesn’t stop with the first phone call.

As the client moves along through her life-decision process, the OFL Prayer App continues to remind app users to pray for the mother and her unborn child. And finally, when the client makes the bold decision for LIFE, the praying community is once again notified so they can help us spread the good news!
Through the OFL Prayer App, pro-life individuals can now become 24/7 champions for life from their homes, offices or even on the road. In the first 30 days since the app launched, nearly 50,000 prayers were lifted up on behalf of abortion-determined women and their unborn children. And we believe these prayers were a big part of this amazing result: 123 lives were saved from abortion just during the month of February!
