Yesterday, the Virginia House of Delegates passed three important pro-life amendments to this year’s budget. This was step forward to protecting the taxpayers of Virginia as well as unborn children and the women of Virginia.
A much needed amendment was passed that will ban the use of tax funds for Medicare abortions when the baby might suffer from “gross fetal abnormalities”. This action, if agreed to by the Virginia Senate, would bring Virginia law in line with Federal law regarding funding abortion under Medicaid.
Another amendment that passed today ensures that there will not be any changes made to the current abortion facility regulations by pro-abortion Governor McAuliffe. This is a much needed amendment since Governor McAuliffe campaign on his intention to overturn those same protective regulations that have just gone into effect.
One more amendment that would defund Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion advocacy group in Virginia, was also passed.
All of these votes split along party lines with the Republicans voting for the amendments and the Democrats against. Please do contact your Delegate and thank them if they vote for these important pro-life measures. It is very important that we remember to show our pro-life legislators our gratitude!
