Doctors Save Baby of Pregnant Woman Killed by Snowplow in Parking Lot

A pregnant woman was killed today by a snowplow that was clearing a parking lot after the several inches of snow that fell in Brooklyn, NY. The deadly mishap occurred in front of 6301 Eighth Ave as the victim was struck by a private plow that was clearing snow from the parking lot of the Fei Long Market.

Brooklyn pregnant woman killed by plowAccording to NBC New York, Min Lin and her husband were loading groceries into their car when she was hit by the plow.

The 36-year-old victim’s baby was alive but in critical condition at Maimonides Medical Center. NBC indicates doctors were able to save the unborn child, though tragically Lin died:

Lin died at the hospital, but doctors performed a cesarean section and were able to deliver her 6-pound, 6-ounce baby boy, who was nearly full term, the hospital said.

The baby was in critical condition in the neonatal intensive care unit, a hospital spokeswoman said, and a family member was present with him but has declined to talk to the media.

A friend of Lin’s choked up as she spoke about her.

“She’s a good mommy,” said Songqing Huang. “My good friend too.”

The plow was privately owned and was being driven by a 42-year-old man.
