A Planned Parenthood Twitter account posted a picture celebrating a Mexican tradition honoring the dead, called Dia de los Muertos. The celebration stems in part from the Catholic tradition of praying for and honoring the memories of those who have died.
The celebration takes place over three days (Oct. 31 – Nov. 2), and traditionally the memories of children and infants are honored on November 1, while those of adults are honored on the last day of the celebration, November 2.

On November 1st, Planned Parenthood tweeted a picture to wish supporters a happy Dia de los Muertos. The action bore particular irony for two reasons, one of which is very obvious: Planned Parenthood is responsible for prematurely ending the lives millions of children, many of whom are Hispanic.
Hispanic women account for at least one in four women who have abortion in the United States, according to the Guttmacher Institute, a pro-abortion research organization formerly affiliated with Planned Parenthood.
To tweet “Happy Dia de los Muertos” seems rather inappropriate given this fact, unless Planned Parenthood celebrates the reality that many of the dead being remembered on the Day of the Dead were killed by their organization. A less obvious but equally disturbing irony about the tweet is that it was made on the specific day of the Dia de los Muertos celebration when children and infants in particular are remembered.
