We’re Not Gonna Take It: Time to Expose the Lies of the Pro-Abortion Media

Lila Rose and Live Action are calling out the media for doing what has become a shameful daily, and even hourly, occurrence—lying.

The #MarchOnMedia campaign demands the media tell the truth about abortion. I know a little about media bias. I’ve been on the receiving end of absurd distortions and omissions by mainstream media for years (see here, here, here, and here).

As an adoptee and adoptive father, I created the TooManyAborted.com billboard and web campaigns (as an initiative of The Radiance Foundation) to illuminate the devastating impact of abortion in the black community.

Although abortion is a tragedy no matter the race, its impact is most profound in urban areas across the United States. Despite the fact that in city after city, more black babies are aborted than are born alive, news media refuses to tell the truth about abortion.  In New York City, for example, for every 1,000 black babies that are born alive, 1,448 are killed by abortion (or 38,674 abortions and only 26,635 live births). But ABC, NBC, and CBS and the rest of mainstream media are silent.

One of my lifelong heroes is former slave, famed abolitionist, writer and phenomenal public speaker, Frederick Douglass. Aside from reshaping the conscience of President Lincoln, he informed the public about the injustice of slavery through his newspaper, The North Star.

Regarding his role as a journalist, Douglass once said: “I still see before me a life of toil and trials… but, justice must be done, the truth must be told…I will not be silent.” The North Star was necessary because the mainstream media refused to tell the truth about slavery.

Today, the news media still refuses to tell the truth about a host of issues. They exploited the tragedy of Trayvon Martin’s death while completely ignoring the tragedy of Tonya Reaves’ death. She was left to bleed for 5.5 hours, after a botched abortion, because the incompetent abortionist, Mandy Gittler, would not call 911 to save Tonya’s life.

That Chicago “clinic” wasn’t even set up to do abortions after 9 weeks of pregnancy. Tonya was 16 weeks pregnant. Abortion was more important to Planned Parenthood, and its media allies, than a young mother’s life. Mainstream media has shown, through its silence, that some violence against women is just fine.

ABC’s Nightline, just days ago, went to Mississippi’s sole abortion mill owned by the ever wealthy Diane Derzis. Nightline spent 72 hours, they claim, inside the abortion mill. But apparently what actually happens INSIDE the building isn’t part of the story. Nightline didn’t show an abortion, didn’t show a mutilated baby’s body parts being counted, didn’t show biohazard waste bags filled with dead babies or any part of the act that has killed 55 million since Roe. Instead, Nightline touted the cute bubble-gum pink color of the exterior of the building and drove around in Diane Derzis’ gas guzzling, “global warming”-inducing Hummer.

(Apparently, pro-climate control ABC was okay with that since Derzis’ offset her “carbon footprint” by eliminating thousands of other footprints.) They could’ve asked why her other clinic in Birmingham, Alabama was closed down. They could’ve asked why the State issued 76 pages of health code violations (h/t Operation Rescue’s abortiondocs.org) on her clinic and forbade her from ever owning a clinic in Birmingham, Alabama again. But they didn’t.

ABC’s Nightline also depicted the abortionist who travels to Mississippi’s lone abortion mill as some kind of charitable doctor. ABC fails to mention that Dr. Willie Parker is the highly paid late-term abortionist and Medical Director of Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington. He’s paid $356,000 by Planned Parenthood for just the abortions he commits at DC’s main abortion center. (see right)

(Abortion is still legal throughout the entire pregnancy in DC.) Instead, ABC portrays Parker as a compassionate man from Alabama, with a “deep evangelical faith”, just trying to bring comfort to women, instead of the abortionist who is paid as a subcontractor to travel to several states to abort children and pretend to be a woman’s personal physician.

Sadly, the American public suffers from systematic misinformation by an institution that should be telling the truth, but chooses, instead, to tell us lies.

There’s actually a Journalist’s Creed, written by Walter William (the first dean of the Missouri School of Journalism), in 1906. This code of ethics reads, in part:

“I believe that suppression of the news, for any consideration other than the welfare of society, is indefensible.

I believe that the journalism which succeeds the best-and best deserves success-fears God and honors man… always respectful of its readers but always unafraid, is quickly indignant at injustice.”

Today’s news media chooses agenda over actuality, opinion over objectivity, and advocacy over accuracy. The Radiance Foundation is proud to join with Live Action, Jill Stanek, Charmaine Yoest (Americans United for Life), Christian Robey (Media Research Center) and millions of other champions for Life across this great country to demand the media do its job…tell the truth.
