Investigators are looking into the death of a newborn baby, whose body was found in the back of a trash vehicle in Kansas City yesterday.
Garbage workers found the baby’s body after seeing the arm of the child dangling over the side of a trash container in the truck.
Results from an autopsy have not yet been released to determine the cause of death and officials are trying to determine about where on its scheduled route the track was at the time the workers discovered the body.
“At this point, we have no way of determining that,” said Kansas City Police Capt. Tye Grant. “We’re not sure obviously. That’s something we’ll be looking at — to try to figure out where at on the route it came from — but at this point we don’t know, we’re hoping we can determine that.”
The location where the discovery was made was not the first stop on the route.

Police said they are investigating the baby’s death as a homicide.
KMBC said that the truck has been moved to a secure location where detectives can go over everything inside it.
People who live in the area where the baby’s body was found said the news was distressing.
“It’s just a sad event,” said neighbor Dia Matthews. “I think that there’s no words to convey it, but it’s just incredibly tragic and sad.”
She said she hopes police can get some answers soon.
“Somebody needs to be held responsible for it, but they obviously need help as well,” she said.
