Abortion activists over the years have vandalized and destroyed dozens of pro-life displays meant to memorialize unborn children who are victimized by abortions. One wonders what is so upsetting about remembering the babies abortion has killed that drives them to little trample on the displays and violate the free speech rights and property rights of pro-lifers.
A group in Ohio has seen their pro-life display trashed for a third time now.
Vandals struck a pro-life white cross display overnight at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Newbury.
According to Denver Sallee with HELP out of Geauga County, the vandals struck sometime overnight Tuesday, destroying 144 white crosses and a banner that brought awareness to abortions.
The crosses and banner were displayed on the front lawn of the church, which is located at 12060 Kinsman Road.
The group is upset and preparing to clear the debris Tuesday evening.
HELP stands for Saints Helen, Edward & Lucy Pro-Life. It was created out of the effort to cluster the pro-life services and activities of the parishes.
Geauga County Sheriff’s office said late Tuesday afternoon that they did not have any suspects, but after gathering evidence it appeared to be vandalized by teen vandals and not an organized destruction on principle, but is still under investigation. The Sheriff’s office is hoping someone will come forward with information on who may be responsible for the damage estimated to be around $500.
Sallee said the crosses, made from a PVC material, are handmade by a local sign company. The display cost over $600 to produce, said Salle.
“In the last five years this is the third time we’ve had vandals ruin our display. It won’t slow down our effort, but the other two times it happened it didn’t get much press,” said Sallee.
Sallee said H.E.L.P. had planned to have the display run from Mother’s Day until Father’s Day, but will not re-display the current display’s crosses. Instead they intend to gather the few unharmed crosses, saving them for their next traveling display.
