A Florida man has been arrested for punching his ex-girlfriend after she refused to have an abortion.

Police say 27-year-old Louis Vickers punched his ex-girlfriend in the stomach three times during an argument after he demanded she have an abortion. He became enraged when she refused to end the life of her baby. The 21-year-old victim and her unborn child recovered from the assault with no serious injuries.

The argument took place at a restaurant where both Vickers and his girlfriend worked. After the assault, the woman escaped into the back of the restaurant. Upon entering the restroom, she realized that she was bleeding from her vagina and feared for her unborn baby. She was taken to Lehigh Regional Medical Center, and doctors were able to stop the bleeding and prevent a miscarriage.

The unborn baby appears healthy and doctors are optimistic that both woman and child will be fine.  She was treated at the hospital on March 18, 2013.

Vickers was arrested on March 21. According to the victim, she and Vickers had lived together for several months before the assault.

LifeNews has covered many cases where a woman’s partner or ex-partner demanded she have an abortion and then resorted to violence when she refused. In January, a Sacramento man attacked his pregnant ex-partner with a baseball bat for refusing to have an abortion. The mother and unborn baby survived the assault.

In November of 2012, a police officer brutally beat his six-month pregnant ex-girlfriend in an attempt to cause a miscarriage. Also in November, a man stabbed his pregnant girlfriend to death, allegedly because she refused to abort.

These examples are only a handful of the cases where a woman’s refusal to abort sparked violence from the baby’s father.
