On Monday, CBS This Morning launched a week-long set of interviews for Women’s History Month, but the majority of the women they picked for their list of “Eye Opening Women” are dedicated liberals, particularly on social issues. The morning newscast first conducted a fawning interview of former Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, who was part of the Supreme Court plurality that upheld the Roe v. Wade decision in 1992’s Planned Parenthood v. Casey.
Five out of the eight remaining women featured for the series of interviews are all notables on the left side of the political spectrum. On Tuesday, anchors Charlie Rose and Norah O’Donnell will interview The Daily Beast’s Tina Brown and Arianna Huffington, founder of far-left website The Huffington Post. Brown has a history of attacking conservatives. During a 2011 appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe program, she likened tax hike opponents to terrorists:
PAT BUCHANAN: They [conservatives] say, ‘This is the wrong way to go. We don’t believe in it. We’ve committed against it. We can’t do it, Mr. President, you’re asking us to break our word and do something we think is not going to work, and we’re not going to do it, sir.’
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: So, I think the, what was the answer to my question that who the hostage taker is, Willie?
WILLIE GEIST: Sounds like Pat’s boys. Pat’s boys are holding the hostage.
TINA BROWN: I think they’re the suicide bombers in all of this.
On two previous CBS morning show appearances in 2009, Brown ended up gushing over Mr. and Mrs. Obama.
Two out of three guests for the “Eye-Opening Women” feature on Wednesday are liberal stalwarts: Valerie Jarrett, President Obama’s senior adviser (Rose already conducted a softball interview of Jarrett earlier in 2013); and Reagan-hating reporter Leslie Stahl. The third pick, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, served in the Republican George W. Bush administration, but also once called herself “mildly pro-choice” and supports same-sex civil unions.
On Friday, the sole guest is Caroline Kennedy, who once tried to use her Catholic background to justify her support for abortion. Of course, the Kennedy daughter has long been a center of attention for the media’s long-term love affair of her Democratic family.

The two remaining “Eye-Opening Women” guests don’t have prominent political backgrounds, but own their own businesses: Bobbi Brown, CEO of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, who will be interviewed on Tuesday; and Angie’s List founder Angie Hicks, who is set to appear on CBS This Morning on Thursday.
