A doctor in India reportedly raped a woman and then conned her into taking a dug to cause an abortion, without her knowledge.
Abortion advocates often claim abortion is empowering for women, but men frequently use it to inflict additional punishment on women. In this case, a doctor is using abortion further harm a woman he’s already victimized by rape.

A 22-year-old woman alleged on Sunday that a doctor from BMC-run Rajawadi hospital forced her to abort her unborn child after raping her.
According to the victim, Dr Mangesh Gajakosh, 29, raped her on two accounts. “He had raped the victim in May in his cabin when she had come to show him her father’s medical reports. He raped her again in August after which she became pregnant. When he realised a month later that she is pregnant, he made her consume abortion pills without letting her know the reason for giving the medication,” said the victim’s lawyer Komal Upadhyay.
The victim bled incessantly for close to a month after consuming the pills on September 4. She was rushed to state-run JJ Hospital from Nagpada police hospital for treatment by the police.
“The MRI reports of the pelvis area suggested that the abortion was incomplete and that remnants of the dead foetus were still in the womb,” said a senior doctor from JJ Hospital.
While the police have collected the victim’s blood samples and remnants of the foetus for DNA analysis, Upadhyay alleged that DNA samples of the accused have not yet been collected.
Forced abortions are not uncommon. In the United States, women victimized by abortions done at the filthy and poorly-run abortion center owned and operated by Kermit Gosnell came forward to talk about their experiences and how they were injured by abortion.

Davida Johnson spoke out about the abortion Gosnell did and she said the abortion facility he ran was filthy — with women sitting on blood-stained recliners. She told the Associated press she had a change of heart about the abortion but was forced to continue the abortion.
“I said, ‘I don’t want to do this,’ and he smacked me. They tied my hands and arms down and gave me more medication,” she told AP.
Johnson was 21-years-old and had a 3-year-old daughter at the time of the forced abortion. She had originally gone to a Planned Parenthood abortion center but chose Gosnell for the abortion after seeing pro-life advocates at the center. She told AP she paid $400 for the abortion and was told that pro-life advocates would not be present at Gosnell’s abortion center because Gosnell routinely did abortions during hours when his center was supposedly closed.
Johnson indicates she began having psychological issues following the forced abortion and she blames Gosnell for a mental illness she now suffers from and says she has had four miscarriages following the abortion.
