Pro-Life Leader: Don’t Waste Your Vote on Third Party Candidate

The head of a pro-life group that works to stop corporations from funding Planned Parenthood says the abortion giant is desperately hoping pro-abortion President Barack Obama will beat Mitt Romney to keep its taxpayer funding intact.

Douglas Scott, president of the Planned Parenthood watchdog organization Life Decisions International, also says he hopes pro-life voters will not throw away their vote by supporting a third party candidate with no chance of becoming president and putting pro-life policies in place.

Scott tells LifeNews Planned Parenthood leaders are “clearly concerned.”

“They understand that the most pro-abortion president in American history may lose to Mitt Romney–a candidate who has pledged to eliminate taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood,” adding that the abortion business is engaging in a “last-minute attempt to convince pro-abortion voters to go to the polls tomorrow.”

“This election will unquestionably be decided by those Americans who do not vote,” Scott said. “In other words, pro-life voters who stay home or waste their votes on third-party or write-in candidates will help assure Obama of a second term. On the other hand, if pro-abortion activists do not vote they may make it impossible for Obama to win re-election.”

“Planned Parenthood is doing all it can to promote its dream candidate,” Scott said. “PPAF chief Cecile Richards has taken a leave of absence from her pro-abortion duties to work full-time for the Obama/Biden campaign. This unprecedented move indicates that Richards knows the stakes could not be greater. Election 2012 may prove to be the most important yet when it comes to saving the lives of children.”

Scott pointed out a new video Planned Parenthood released called “Yes We Plan” that was inspired by the 2008 pro-Obama video by hip-hop artist Will.i.am (“Yes We Can”). The video features actress Julianne Moore, singer Mary J. Blige, and hip-hop artist Q-Tip, urges voters to “protect women’s health” by giving Obama another four years. Moore, Blige and Will.i.am are longtime, avid supporters of Planned Parenthood, he pointed out. https://www.lifenews.com/2012/10/30/mary-j-blige-julianne-moore-record-planned-parenthood-election-ad/

Scott is upset the Obama campaign and top Democrats have made the election about abortion and lamented that, over the past several months, Americans have been bombarded with ads that defend Planned Parenthood and Roe v. Wade. They have also released several videos (too long for commercials) that promote abortion and continued taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood and he condemned them for portraying Mitt Romney as ignorant, anti-woman, and extreme.

“After the final vote is counted, if [Planned Parenthood] and its legions were unsuccessful in swaying the election with misleading ads on abortion and birth control, the groups may be a little more wary about doing so in the future. But if they are successful, the strategy will be repeated every two years with ever-increasing intensity,” Scott concluded.

“If pro-life Americans do not step up to the plate we will have no one to blame but ourselves. But it is not we who will suffer the consequences of failure,” Scott said. “This cost will be paid by preborn children and we simply cannot allow that to happen. Personally, I’m all for ‘moving forward,’ but not blindly; not when we’re heading for a cliff. We have the power to steer this country in the right direction. Let’s use it.”
