Virginia: Pro-Lifers Needed to Hold Abortion Clinics Accountable

This Friday morning, September 14th, in Richmond Virginia, the State Board of Health will meet to hear comments from the public regarding the new abortion facility regulations required by the Virginia General Assembly and supported by our pro-life Governor, Bob McDonnell.

These important regulations will provide greatly needed protections to Virginia women from unregulated and unscrupulous abortionists in the Commonwealth. These common sense regulations will enforce a code of care that requires abortion facilities to meet standards of service and care that already apply to other similar health facilities.

Recent stories from around the USA have highlighted the very real danger to the lives of women as well as their babies in abortion facilities. Women are at risk from abortionists who are allowed to operate without regulation.

The regulations were voted on by the General Assembly in 2011. The Board of Health has the obligation to integrate them into practice. It is imperative that the board members hear from concerned pro-lifers about this issue.

After the last meeting on June 15th the board passed a modified version of the required regulations which the Virginia Attorney General, Ken Cuccinelli, rejected because they failed to meet the standards set by the General Assembly.

Pro-abortion forces showed up in force at the last hearing. It is critical that the board see pro-life support for these regulations. Anyone can attend the meeting and speak in favor of the corrected regulations.

If you live anywhere within the Richmond area or surrounding counties, please consider joining the staff and board members of VSHL at this meeting. We must fill the room with pro-life voices and faces. Wear a pro-life button or shirt if you have one.

The meeting will be held at 9:00 AM at the Perimeter Center, 9960 Mayland Dr, Boardroom 2, Richmond, VA 23233. It is easy to reach from interstate 95 and 64. When you arrive please sign up to speak for yourself, as an individual, if you are willing to do so. Sign-up sheet will be available beginning at 8:15 a.m.

Please arrive early, as the boardroom holds a limited number of people, seating will be available on a first-come, first served basis, and be prepared to see pro-abortion supporters. Please do not engage them. We must be the face of reason, but we must be there! We cannot allow the forces of death take the front on this issue. Virginia is a pro-life place. I am counting on you to come out and prove it! Comments to the Board must be short and to the point.

Please be respectful. Simply tell the Board that you support these common sense regulations that will save and protect women’s lives.

Thank you for showing your support with your time and courage!
