The powerful television commercial prepared by the Susan B. Anthony List, a pro-life women’s group, has seen more than 250,000 people view it on YouTube already, and even more in the states where it has been run on television.

The ad has aired in Missouri and in Charlotte, North Carolina during President Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention.

“Through Melissa Ohden’s story more than 250,000 people have now learned the truth of the President’s extreme commitment to abortion, a commitment even to those abortions that fail,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Voters now want to know if such extremism is commonplace in the executive branch.

“When he was a U.S. Senator, Vice President Joe Biden joined a 98-0 Senate roll call supporting federal legislation to grant equal legal protection to babies born alive during an abortion,” Dannenfelser continued. “Barack Obama later fought vigorously against several born-alive bills in the Illinois state Senate because he believed efforts to protect babies born alive during abortions were unconstitutional and would ‘burden’ a woman’s abortion decision.  Even when the Illinois bill was amended in 2003 to be an exact copy of the federal law that had passed Congress without dissent, Obama voted against it.  The American people deserve to know how radical Barack Obama is on abortion.”

The ad is the first in a series exposing President Obama’s extreme abortion record. The SBA List has additional ads being considered for release in North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Recently the SBA List wrapped up a five state “Women Speak Out: Abortion is Not Health Care” bus tour, drawing attention to the President’s opposition to bans on sex-selection abortions and post-fetal pain late-term abortions – both of which are overwhelmingly supported by the majority of Americans.

Polling from the Charlotte Lozier Institute found that 77 percent of Americans, and 80 percent of women, support banning sex-selective abortion. Additionally, recent national polling from National Right to Life Committee shows that 63 percent of Americans (70 percent of women) support a ban on late-term abortion past the point at which unborn children feel pain.
