Botched Abortion at Houston Planned Parenthood Injures Woman

Last Thursday, August 23, 2012 two ambulances and a fire truck responded to a 911 call at Planned Parenthood Houston, the largest late term abortion facility in the nation.

After being inside the 6 story building for 20 minutes paramedics came out with a young woman on the a gurney, she was hooked up to oxygen and an IV bag. After being loaded into the ambulance, she was taken to Ben Taub Hospital where her condition remains unknown.

This terrible incident comes one day after the Fifth Circuit court of Appeals ruled that Texas can cut Planned Parenthood from the Women’s Health Program. Shortly after the courts decision Planned Parenthood started sending out emails stating that the anti-choice movement is denying women access to vital healthcare and that women across Texas need Planned Parenthood. Well, I am here to tell you a different story. I should know, I am outside this Planned Parenthood almost every day.

Planned Parenthood decided to move locations after a 2003 law went into affect, which stated that ”An abortion of a fetus age 16 weeks or more may be performed only at an ambulatory surgical center or hospital licensed to perform the abortion.” Their location at that time did not have an ASC license so they had to refer women out for later term abortions. This meant Planned Parenthood was losing money.

In May 2010 PPGC (Planned Parenthood of the Gulf Coast) opened their new flagship abortion center fully equipped with an ambulatory surgical center, licensed to perform those later term abortions. Since that terrible day I have documented seven ambulances (other 911 calls were not documented), several occasions when the police had to be called, and an untold number of men and women who have been lied to, hurt, and deceived by PPGC.

Working in the mobile crisis pregnancy center of the Houston Coalition for Life which is parked outside of PPGC, I have heard countless stories of what women have gone through while they were inside Planned Parenthood. Just this week a woman needed a simple pregnancy test but Planned Parenthood would not give her one because she could not pay for it. We not only gave her a free pregnancy test but a free ultrasound as well. Now, how can a small organization like the one I work for give free ultrasounds and free pregnancy tests, yet a multi-million dollar organization cannot?  Simply put, money has become their god. When they see a woman walking through their lobby door they don’t see individual, unique human beings, they see dollar signs. But we already knew that, didn’t we?

I am committed to help women, not just in a crisis pregnancy, but any crisis they are going through. I do this because I believe that no man, women or child should have to face any difficult or frightening decision alone. I am committed to end the violence of abortion, because too many babies have been brutally murdered, too many women have forever been hurt and too many families have been destroyed.

I am committed to end the brutal reign Planned Parenthood has had over this country because I do not want my children to grow up in the pro-death culture Planned Parenthood works so hard to spread. I am committed to spread a culture of love, truth and LIFE. I am committed, are you?
