Pro-Abortion Leaders Brag About Speaking at Democrat Convention

The president of Planned Parenthood and the head of the pro-abortion group NARAL are both excited to be speaking at the Democratic convention. This is the convention sponsored by the party that will approve a platform calling for unlimited abortions paid for at taxpayer expense. On the other hand, Republicans approved a strongly pro-life platform.

Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards tweeted a picture of her testing the microphone at the rostrum on the convention floor, with the note, “I got to check out the DNC stage in preparation for my speech Wednesday- it looks amazing.”

Meanwhile, NARAL president Nancy Keenan sent an email to her supporters asking for money and attacking Mitt Romney in advance of her Tuesday speech.

“Tomorrow night at approximately 8:00 p.m., I’ll be taking the stage at the Democratic National Convention,” she said. “It’s an honor to be asked to speak to the delegates, guests, and American public watching at home – and I’d be honored if you watch me speak.”

Keenan continued:

You’ve been one of our most committed activists, so I wanted to make sure you tune in because, really, I am speaking on your behalf. You and I both believe that women – not politicians – should continue to make personal, private health-care decisions. Well, only one person running for the White House shares our belief: President Barack Obama.

My speech is our next step in working to re-elect President Obama – and defeat Gov. Mitt Romney.

If we don’t succeed, Mitt Romney could follow in the footsteps of so many other anti-choice politicians in this country. Like Rep. Todd Akin who stunned us all when he said that pregnancies from “legitimate rape” rarely happen. Or Gov. Bob “Transvaginal” McDonnell of Virginia who signed a bill into law forcing women seeking abortion to get an ultrasound first – even if it’s against their will.

This kind of contempt for women is what we’re fighting against this election cycle. The choice couldn’t be more clear.

I hope you tune in tomorrow night. And, better yet, please forward this email to five pro-choice friends and ask them to watch from home. This election will decide whether the person leading the country will protect women’s freedom and privacy – or work to take it away.

Organizers of the Democratic convention in Charlotte, North Carolina has released lists of the speakers for the event and no pro-life advocates are included. The list is long on speakers who have spent their entire political careers advocating for abortion. Missing among the roster of notables speaking at the convention? Anyone who shares the pro-life view a majority of Americans hold on abortion.

In 2008, the Democratic National Committee allowed Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business which Obama has funded despite its coverup of child rape, to speak from the stage.

The Democratic Party has already turned back efforts by pro-life Democrats to moderate its pro-abortion position and add any language to its platform showing it welcomes Democrats who oppose abortion. As LifeNews has reported, the Democratic National Committee has officially rejected an effort by pro-life Democrats to get the party to include them in its platform that calls for keeping unlimited abortions legal and paid for at taxpayer expense.
