Bob Evans Removed From Planned Parenthood Donor Boycott List

The boycott project one pro-life group says has resulted in stopping corporate donations to Planned Parenthood has resulted in another company’s removal from its list.

Life Decisions International president Douglas Scott has been working for decades to get pro-life corporations to stop donating to the Planned Parenthood abortion business and his group put significant focus on Bob Evans in recent months. Bob Evans officials claimed they never supported the abortion business and were put on the boycott list unfairly when one local store made its own decision to support the abortion giant.

“To clarify, Bob Evans has never made a contribution to this organization; it is outside our corporate giving guidelines to do so,” one statement from Bob Evans indicated. “We donate more than a million dollars each year to causes that support children and families. We believe LDI’s decision to place us on a boycott list may stem from food provided by a single Mimi’s Cafe location in California for some event involving Planned Parenthood a number of years ago.”

Although the reason for placement on the LDI boycott list may be in dispute, what is not disputed now is that Bob Evans is no longer on it.

“Let no one ever doubt the ability of the individual pro-life advocate who seeks to change corporate behavior. This is especially true when many individual pro-life advocates come together to speak with the same message,” Scott said. “Bob Evans Farms Inc. is no longer a boycott target.”

“We are 100 percent certain that what you did over the past several days is what convinced corporate officials to do the right thing. You did it yet again,” Scott said of a step-up in recent efforts to contact Bob Evans.

“Thanks to those of you who forwarded to us the form letter/email being used by Bob Evans. None of it was surprising; exactly what we expected them to say,” Scott continued. “Regardless of what the company claimed, we can assure you – as always – that no corporation is ever placed on The Boycott List unless it deserves to be there – based on our fair, long-employed and uniformly applied standards.”

In March, LDI released its most updated listing of corporations that provide direct donations to Planned Parenthood, which does more than 25 percent of all of the 1.2 million abortions that take place annually in the United States. The companies included such heavy hitters as Advance Publications (magazines such as Bon Appetit, Details, Glamour, GQ, Self, Vanity Fair, and Vogue), Danone (Dannon products), UBS (financial services), and Wyndham (lodging including Baymont, Days Inn, Dream Hotels, Hawthorne, Howard Johnson, Knights Inn, Microtel, Night, Ramada, Super 8, Travelodge, TRYP Hotels, Wingate, and Wyndham; eatery: Planet Hollywood).
