Former U.S. Sen. Bob Kerrey, an abortion backer, is looking to return to the Senate this November but the Democrat faces opposition not only from pro-life Republicans eager to replace Democrat Ben Nelson, but a leading pro-life organization.

Americans United for Life Action put a radio ad buy in the field this week opposing Bob Kerrey’s candidacy. The radio spot focuses on the extremely pro-abortion positions taken by the former Senator, including his support for the highly unpopular partial-birth abortion procedure.

“Bob Kerrey’s unwavering support for even the most distasteful abortion practices are out of line with the values of Nebraskans,” said Americans United for Life president Charmaine Yoest. “And Kerrey consistently supported putting pro-abortion judges on the bench, including U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, one of the most unabashed supporters of abortion-on-demand in all nine months of pregnancy. This ad is a reminder of Kerrey’s record, which is more important than rhetoric.”

The radio spot begins by noting that Kerrey is poised to leave his home in New York City to seek the Nebraska seat where his record against life is extreme.

Kerrey voted 5 times against banning partial birth abortion, a procedure that even former President Bill Clinton opposed. And Kerrey consistently supported putting pro-abortion judges on the bench.
