In order to (futilely) combat the recent restrictions on their access to federal funds (thus far, nine states have stripped tens of millions of dollars from the abortion giant), Planned Parenthood has revved up their futile “Women are Watching” campaign. One of their reasons as to “Why We’re Watching” is access to abortion “care” (because having your child torn from your womb in the name of choice sure is caring).
Along with bemoaning the fact that women now have waiting periods between viewing an ultrasound and obtaining information about financial assistance and truthful information about aid available locally to her and her unborn child, and actually aborting said child, Planned Parenthood laments regulations like the recently upheld Texas Ultrasound law which requires an abortionist to offer the woman the opportunity to see an image of her unborn child before an abortion is performed.
The abortionist is also required to describe the preborn baby with medically accurate terminology—describing the physical nature of the baby, and that he/she has a heartbeat. (Following emphasis is mine):
(B) the physician who is to perform the abortion displays the sonogram images in a quality consistent with current medical practice in a manner that the pregnant woman may view them;
(C) the physician who is to perform the abortion provides, in a manner understandable to a layperson, a verbal explanation of the results of the sonogram images, including a medical description of the dimensions of the embryo or fetus, the presence of cardiac activity, and the presence of external members and internal organs; and
(D) the physician who is to perform the abortion or an agent of the physician who is also a sonographer certified by a national registry of medical sonographers, makes audible the heart auscultation for the pregnant woman to hear, if present, in a quality consistent with current medical practice and provides, in a manner understandable to a layperson, a simultaneous verbal explanation of the heart auscultation;
Planned Parenthood calls this medical information “politically motivated statements.”
They also claim that women are “forced” to see the sonogram, even though women have the ability and right to decline if they do not wish to see the image:

(b) A pregnant woman may choose not to view the sonogram images required to be provided to and reviewed with the pregnant woman under Section 171.012(a)(4).

Ridiculous. If someone has a heart condition, tests must be run on him or her before surgery, and the doctor must explain to the patient all the details of each step along the way. If I sprain my wrist, the doctor must first take an x-ray of it, show me the x-ray, and explain to me the procedures necessary for it to heal. No one is “forced” into these prerequisites; they are a vital aspect of preparing for a procedure, and imperative to allowing a patient to give fully informed consent before undergoing any kind of surgery. Why do we apply these standards to every single surgical procedure except abortion?
In April 2011, a survey from Kevin Quinely, a research analyst, and Kellyanne Conway, CEO of the polling company, in./WomenTrend, to the Susan B. Anthony List showed that the majority of women (51%) opposed the motion of granting federal funds to family planning centers that performed abortions.
You’re right, Planned Parenthood: women ARE watching… you. And we don’t like what we’re seeing.
