A leading Jewish group is blasting the popular pro-life documentary 180 for comparing abortion tot he Holocaust, as Jewish producer Ray Comfort helps college students understand the gravity of both.

The Anti-Defamation League derided as “cynical and perverse” the 180 movie for comparing the murder of millions of Jews and others in the Holocaust to the deaths of unborn children in the United States. ADL calls the pro-life film “one of the most offensive and outrageous abuses of the memory of the Holocaust we have seen in years.”

The movie has gone viral with just under 1.5 million YouTube views in six weeks and Comfort responded to the attacks in comments to LifeNews saying “ADL’s motto is to fight ‘anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.’ There’s no hatred, prejudice or bigotry in 180.”

“It’s an award-winning movie that opens with 14 people (mainly college students) who have no idea of the identity of Adolf Hitler. Clearly the American education system has failed these kids. This is a movie that educates young people about the horror of the Jewish Holocaust,” Comfort added.

“ADL should be thanking me. Instead they have come out swinging” Comfort said. “My only explanation is that they haven’t thought it out before they rushed to judgment. If anyone should stand up for those who have no voice for themselves, it should be the Jews.”

Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director and a Holocaust survivor, complained about the pro-life movie this way: “The film is a perverse attempt to make a case against abortion in America through the cynical abuse of the memory of those killed in the Holocaust.”

“Not only does the film try to assert a moral equivalency between the Holocaust and abortion, but it also brings Jews and Jewish history into the discussion and then calls on its viewers to repent and accept Jesus as their savior,” Foxman added. “It is, quite frankly, one of the most offensive and outrageous abuses of the memory of the Holocaust we have seen in years.”

But Comfort responds, “With due respect to Mr. Foxman, he speaks of Christianity as if it were some sort of disease, when he should know that the majority of Christians love and support the nation of Israel. We are not the enemy.”

Foxman added, “The creators of the film clearly don’t get it… No Christian who understands Jewish suffering should resort to inappropriate comparisons to the Holocaust to send a message that abortion is wrong.”

Comfort replied to the accusation with “No one but a Holocaust survivor can really understand the horror of what the Jews suffered. But the analogy stands.”

“Hitler justified their murder by saying that Jews weren’t human,” Comfort said. “Abortion advocates do the same by calling a baby a ‘fetus’ (as do ADL in their press release). Yet at 6 weeks 6 days a baby has a heartbeat, eyes, a mouth and hands. We show actual footage of this in our movie. Science now tells us that at the moment of conception there is DNA, determining the eye-color, hair-color and the height and personality of the person. Destroy that, and you destroy the person.”

“Germany lawfully slaughtered six million Jews,” Comfort continues. “America has lawfully slaughtered nearly ten times that amount.”

“Also, every time Hitler killed a Jewish family he lined his pockets by seizing their assents — their paintings, jewelry, cars, homes, and bank account. He also seized the gold from their teeth and the hair from their heads, and it amounted to billions of dollars, financing a third of his war-machine with the blood of the Jews,” the 180 movie producer said.

Comfort maintained that the American abortion industry does the same, saying, “Every time a doctor rips the arms, the legs and the head off a baby, he makes quick and easy money. If you want your 16-week baby killed in the womb, it will cost you $765 (current pricing). But if your baby is 19 weeks, it jumps to $2,165, amounting to billions in the pockets of abortion providers. American abortion is not about ‘choice,’ it’s about money… just like the Holocaust. The analogy is legitimate.”

Late last month, over 180,000 copies were given away at 100 of America’s top universities. This month thousands more were given to students outside Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Burbank High Schools. More than 250,000 copies of the DVD were sold within a month of its release.
