Poll: 55% Expect Pro-Abortion Obama to be One-Term President

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll finds 55 percent of Americans believe pro-abortion President Barack Obama will be a one-term president — with just 37 percent saying he will win a second term.

Defeating Obama is the number one priority for the pro-life movement heading into 2012, as Obama has compiled a massive pro-abortion record by pushing for abortion, taxpayer funding of abortions and placing pro-abortion judges on the Supreme Court who would vote to keep unlimited abortions legal for decades longer.

But that record, and the perception of voters that Obama has been dismal on fixing the troubled economy, prompts 55 percent to tell pollsters in the new Langer Research Associates survey that they expect the eventual Republican nominee to defeat Obama next year. Republicans, by an 83-13 percent margin, are confident that Obama will not be back in the White House in 2013. Independents expect the GOP to win by a 54-36 point margin.

The survey finds Democrats expect Obama to win, but only by a 58-33 percentage point margin. That’s troublesome for the president as he seeks to bolster his liberal, pro-abortion base to turn out votes for a second term.

Americans without a college degree – who have surely been affected by the troublesome economy — say on a 57-35 point margin they think Obama will lose, while college graduates say Obama will lose by a less narrow margin of 49-41 percent.

The Washington Post indicates such prediction polls have a mixed record of success, but tend to be more right than wrong.

On the wrong side, 76 percent of Americans expected, in March 1992, that President George Bush would win re-election, but he went on to lose to pro-abortion candidate Bill Clinton. In November 1999, Americans correctly predicted that the Republican nominee, eventually George W. Bush, would win in 2000. They called his re-election victory in September 2003 by a 50-35 percentage point margin. In March 2007, 61 percent correctly predicted the eventual Democratic nominee would win.

The Susan B. Anthony List is one pro-life group that will be actively educating people about the pro-abortion record Obama has crafted.

“President Obama has proven time and again that he will do whatever it takes to ensure that Planned Parenthood continues to receive taxpayer subsidies,” said SBA List president Marjorie Dannenfelser of the new video. “Obama is the most pro-abortion President in our country’s history and his allegiance to Planned Parenthood is unwavering.”

She continued:  “In June, the Obama Administration declared Indiana’s defunding law to be “illegal” and threatened to pull the state’s Medicaid funding if they did not change the law. In September, the Obama Administration granted a non-competitive contract directly to Planned Parenthood in New Hampshire in response to a decision made by the elected members of the state’s Executive Council to reject a $1.8 million contract with the abortion provider. Both actions follow President Obama’s special protection of Planned Parenthood during the federal budget battle earlier this year, despite undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood employees displaying a willingness to aid and abet alleged sex trafficking of young girls.”
