Two pro-life rallies held last week in the Philippines targeting the anti-life Reproductive Health Bill (RH Bill) currently being considered by the Philippine legislature drew about 20,000 attendees who came to send a message to their representatives – vote “No” on the RH Bill, and “Yes” to life and family.

Human Life International’s (HLI) Philippines office organized the events attended by 8,000 in Pagadian and 12,000 in Dipolog, both on the Zamboanga Peninsula in the southwest region of the country, in conjunction with bishops and priests from the Filipino Catholic Church. HLI Philippines Director Rene Bullecer, MD, spoke to the crowds at both events.

The RH Bill seeks to impose a population control agenda through contraception and other “reproductive health” services, and would fine or jail opponents of the bill’s programs if they were to give “false or misleading” information about the bill.

At the July 30 rally in Pagadian, Dr. Bullecer warned of the demographic consequences of the population control agenda behind the RH Bill. While advocates of the bill continue to tell Filipinos that their population size directly impacts the country’s economic situation, Dr. Bullecer pointed out that main cause of the misery of the people is the corruption of nearly all branches and departments in the government.

He also made clear that the RH Bill directly contradicts the protections of life and family guaranteed in the Philippine constitution:

The State recognizes the sanctity of family life and shall protect and strengthen the family as a basic autonomous social institution. It shall equally protect the life of the mother and the life of the unborn from conception.
At the July 24 rally in Dipolog, Dr. Bullecer spoke for 90 minutes on the reasons why every Filipino, regardless of his or her religion, must say “no” and fight against the passage of the RH Bill.

“This bill, which is being re-filed for the 6th time, originated from the United Nations International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held in Cairo in 1994, and is crafted by the enemies of life,” said Dr. Bullecer. “The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) designed it to advance their cause, which is to legalize abortion worldwide.” Keep reading here to view pictures and video… Note:  Reprinted with permission from Human Life International’s World Watch forum.
