Several national pro-life groups are coming together for a nationwide webcast Thursday night that will focus more attention on the controversial undercover video footage depicting Planned Parenthood staffers helping cover up sex trafficking.
The video has caused a national outrage as a Planned Parenthood abortion center staffer, who has since been fired, is shown advising two people who claim to be running a sex trafficking ring how to obtain abortions for the young girls they are victimizing. The staffer explains how to cover up the abortions, obtain sexually transmitted disease testing, and return the girls to the streets as soon as possible.
Now, officials with Live Action, which released the video, Susan B. Anthony List, Family Research Council, 40 Days for Life, Priests for Life, Concerned Women for America, Americans United for Life Action, and Students for Life of America are hosting a national webcast on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. EST. During the event, pro-life advocates will watch key parts of the undercover video with a narration by Lila Rose of Live Action, learn how Planned Parenthood is aiding and abetting in alleged human trafficking while receiving millions of taxpayer dollars, and they will learn what can be done to stop the government funding.
The webast is accompanied by a new web site, www.ExposePlannedParenthood.com, to lobby Members of Congress to defund Planned Parenthood. The website provides a venue for pro-life grassroots activists to urge their Representatives to support the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act aiming to defund Planned Parenthood of the more than $350 million dollars it receives annually under Title X family planning funds.
The website will encourage e-mails, phone calls and visits to local Congressional offices and coordinate a national letter to the editor campaign.
“If there is a point where we can say ‘this is too much,’ this is it,” SBA List president Marjorie Dannenfelser told LifeNews.com.
“The horror exposed in the video released yesterday was not an isolated incident in the history of a group willing to be a chief ally in the exploitation of women and girls. The unbroken chain of Planned Parenthood’s violations is appalling,” she added. “Yet, this organization insists that it deserves taxpayers’ continued support.”
Dannenfelser continued, “The moment for taxpayers to reject their compulsory funding of the exploitation of women has arrived. If this organization doesn’t shut down its gruesome business altogether, it should at least operate on its own dime. The SBA List and other groups in this coalition are calling upon pro-life America to contact their Representatives and urge them to support the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act. Planned Parenthood must be defunded.”
Wendy Wright, the president of Concerned Women for America, also weighed in on the webcast and new video.
“Shocking undercover video footage reveals a Planned Parenthood clinic manager assuring a pimp that the clinic would secretly offer full access to abortions and other services – despite knowing full well that the girls were underage victims of sex trafficking,” she explained. “To respond swiftly to this crisis – and to take decisive action to strip Planned Parenthood of all taxpayer funding – the pro-life movement is uniting this Thursday night on a huge nationwide webcast … and your attendance is critical.”
The “Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act,” sponsored by Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), was introduced earlier this month and would ensure that tax dollars are not sent to abortion providers under Title X family planning grants.
The undercover video, released yesterday, is the latest in a series of more than a dozen previous Live Action sting operations coordinated by 22-year old Lila Rose and her investigative team. Footage shows a clinic manager conspiring with a man posing as a pimp to secretly secure STD testing, contraception and access to abortion services for his prostitutes, as young as 14 years old, despite their age and enslavement.
