Pro-Lifers Demand Planned Parenthood De-Funding After Expose’

The reaction from the national pro-life community to a new video released by a group exposing the Planned Parenthood abortion business has been swift and decisive:  they want Congress to yank federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

The new video Live Action distributed this morning shows Planned Parenthood staffers in New Jersey, and several other states, advising a man and woman who claim they head up an illegal sex trafficking ring on how to get abortions for the young teenage girls who they said were illegally brought into the country from Asia.

The video has prompted outrage from pro-life advocates who are demanding a vote on a bill Congressman Mike Pence has sponsored that would cut the Title X family planning funds the abortion business receives.

“The exploitive roots and track record of Planned Parenthood is a largely untold story that now cannot be ignored,” Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser told LifeNews.com after seeing the video. “The horror of the logic behind Planned Parenthood’s founding has come to roost in this modern form: it is the primary partner of those who degrade and exploit women.”

“The unbroken chain of examples of such exploitation is appalling, and to further the injustice, this organization insists that it deserves the continued support of taxpayers.  The moment for taxpayers to reject their compulsory involvement in Planned Parenthood has arrived.  If it stays in business at all, it should do so on its own dime,” Dannenfelser added.

Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council, added that “Planned Parenthood has again proven that they are nothing more than a money-grabbing and highly corrupt abortion organization that will conceal a crime as disgusting as child prostitution – and ensure that it quietly continues.”

“Americans work too hard for their dollars to fund an organization this devoid of concern for young women and basic decency, much less to the tune of $350 million a year,” he added.

Charmaine Yoest, the president of Americans United for Life told LifeNews.com the video “”will help Americans see the appalling truth behind Planned Parenthood’s glossy public relations machine.”

“The world’s largest abortion provider poses as the defender of women’s health in the glare of the spotlight.  But when real women enter their doors, only money matters.  We must make de-funding Planned Parenthood a national priority:  not one tax dollar should be given to fuel the abortion industry,” she said.

Wendy Wright, the president of Concerned Women for America, said the abortion industry is clearly complicit with sexual traffickers who “will take their victims to abortionists to end pregnancies or test for sexually transmitted diseases in order to keep their victims usable for sale.”

“Planned Parenthood has apparently realized this, and that they could make not only one sale, but repeat sales,” she said. “This latest tape confirms that Planned Parenthood continues to partner with abusing men against the women and girls they claim to serve.  Congress and state governments need to quit funding Planned Parenthood and their corrupt practices that abuse women.”

And David Bereit, of the successful 40 Days for Life events, says he wonders how pervasive the Planned Parenthood-sex trafficking connection is across the country.

“The revelation that a Planned Parenthood office is willing to aid and abet illegal trafficking of sex slaves – to help line the pockets of pimps with cash – raises the question: Who else is being exploited at Planned Parenthood’s other 820 locations?” he asks. “This demands an immediate federal investigation for the sake of all our daughters, and – at the very least – Congress should freeze all taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood until the investigation is complete.”

Pence’s bill, the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, ensures that taxpayer money authorized by the federal government for family planning efforts supposedly to reduce abortions don’t go to the nation’s biggest abortion business.

Last year alone, according to Planned Parenthood’s own annual report, it received more than $363 million in revenue from government grants and contracts. During that same timeframe, it did 324,008 abortions, a 5.8 percent increase from the previous year, which also set a record high at that time.

“It is morally wrong to end an unborn human life by abortion.  It is also morally wrong to take the taxpayer dollars of millions of pro-life Americans and use them to promote abortion at home or abroad,” Pence said on the House floor in introducing his bill.

“The largest abortion provider in America should not also be the largest recipient of federal funding under Title X,” he said. ““The Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act will prevent any family planning funds under Title X from going to Planned Parenthood or other organizations that perform abortions.  It will ensure that abortion providers are not being subsidized with federal tax dollars.”

The Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act would not reduce the total amount of funds available for family planning but would block funding to organizations that perform abortions, like Planned Parenthood — which does more than one-quarter of all abortions in the United States.

Title X is the only federal grant program dedicated solely to providing comprehensive family planning and related preventative health services, and there are a number of federally funded clinics across the nation that offer beneficial services including patient counseling, breast cancer screenings, HIV prevention education and more.
