Picking out the Christmas tree with the kids, singing Christmas hymns at church, teaching my children about the birth of our Savior … I could go on and on about things that bring my joy during the Christmas season; it truly is a magical time of the year.
I also spend of lot of the Christmas season in pain, sadness and heartbreak as I watch what is happening to our world. Christmas is a time for false love, fake peace and people to fool themselves into thinking they love God. Most of what we see is blasphemy and does not please God at all.
God knows our hearts and knows that most of these celebrities who spoon-feed poison and filth to us all year long are just paying lip-service for the holidays. This kind of fake praise and half-hearted faith does not please God; it isn’t fooling Him at all.
Christmastime seems to make everyone “Christian” for a couple of weeks; unfortunately, it does not work this way. I sometimes think God is more grieved at Christmastime than any other time of the year. The third commandment is that we shall not take the Lord’s name in vain, and that is exactly what happens when lip-service is being played to God.
Some of you might be thinking that I need to just be happy and joyful; it’s Christmastime. “Come on, Bryan, just find the good in everything and enjoy the holidays; don’t be so ‘bah humbug.’” I assure you I am enjoying my time at home right now, and all of the beauty and magic of this time of year.
My problem is that when I really think about what this season is about, I can’t ignore the lies that are swallowing society with darkness. If I continue to look at this darkness with a blind eye and just pretend everything is ok, then I have wasted my opportunity to shine the Light of Truth and Hope.
One of the most prominent sayings you hear at Christmastime is from Luke 2:14: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
“Peace on earth”: such a simple sentiment and something we hear from so many at this time of year. Most everyone seems to want peace on earth this time of year: no wars and no crime, everyone just loving each other.
The problem with many who call for peace on earth is that they also defend a plague of violence that is sweeping the earth and claiming innocent lives by the millions every year. Just last week a so-called “human rights” court ordered a nation who protects innocent human life to start allowing the destruction of life.
Our current President was elected on promises of continuing to erode protections for our youngest American citizens and even strengthening the forces that want to kill these Americans. President Obama, who claims to be a follower of Christ, in fact praises and endorses one of the most evil, hate-filled and destructive organizations on earth,
Planned Parenthood for years openly mocked the concept of “Peace on earth” by distributing Christmas cards that declared “Choice on earth.” Planned Parenthood this year is selling gift certificates that people can redeem for the murder of their own child.
The safest place for any child to be should, in fact, be his mother’s womb. However for thousands of children in America every day, this is most dangerous place to be.
How can we truly expect to have peace on earth when there is no peace in the womb? How can we talk about loving each other and ending wars when we wage war on the most innocent and vulnerable humans on the planet?
Since January 22, 1973 we as a nation have taken away the opportunity for more than 53,000,000 children to have their first Christmas. Over 53,000,000 little boys and girls will never know the joy of emptying their Christmas stocking or tearing away the wrapping paper and screaming at the top of their lungs when they see what’s inside.
Instead they scream in silence as they are torn away from their mother’s wombs. They will never be wrapped in a blanket and put into the arms of their parents. They, like the wrapping paper on Christmas morning, will end up in the trash: tossed away.
As long as this is still taking place on earth, there can truly be no peace.
One week after Christmas is another significant day, New Year’s Day. Every year millions of people make New Year’s resolutions, promises to make changes in the New Year.
I am going to ask you to make a New Year’s resolution with me. I have spent the last twenty years of my life fighting for the end to the abortion holocaust and I am going to resolute to continue this battle till my ending breath.
I want to know if you will make a resolution with me to take more of a stand than ever before, to be more of a voice then ever before, to cry louder then ever before and to shine the light of Christ brighter then ever before.
Will you take a stand?
