Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — The Susan B. Anthony List, a pro-life women’s group, has announced its endorsement of pro-life candidates in two states. The organization is backing Florida State Representative Sandy Adams, who is seeking the House seat in Florida’s 24th district, and two candidates in Arkansas.

“Florida families deserve the pro-life feminine leadership Sandy Adams has already demonstrated in so many roles,” SBA List president Marjorie Dannenfelser said. “Her outspoken commitment to rescinding taxpayer funding of abortion in health care is urgently needed in the next Congress."

Dannenfelser says Adams will be a welcome change from pro-abortion Rep. Suzanne Kosmas.

“While Sandy Adams has introduced life-saving legislation and exhibited outstanding pro-life feminine leadership, EMILY’s List favorite Suzanne Kosmas has voted in lock-step with the pro-abortion Obama-Pelosi administration," she said.

"This race embodies the mission of the Susan B. Anthony List: a pro-life woman challenging a woman who pushes the pro-abortion agenda. Adams has already demonstrated her strong determination to be a vocal advocate for women and unborn children in abortion debates on the floor of the Florida State Legislature, much as she has for her entire career,” Dannenfelser said.

Meanwhile, in Arkansas, SBA announced its endorsement of Beth Anne Rankin, candidate for the U.S. House in the fourth district who is taking on pro-abortion Rep. Mike Ross.

“Where Mike Ross has been an unreliable vote on the life issue, Beth Anne Rankin is clearly eager to fight to protect Life on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives,” the SBA List president said. “Her commitment to rescind taxpayer funding of abortion in health care and in all federal spending is urgently needed in the coming Congress.”

Beth Anne Rankin served as Miss Arkansas in 1994 and began working for pro-life Governor Mike Huckabee two years later.

Rankin’s campaign repeatedly cites her history as a “life-long pro-life advocate” and her commitment to “continue to advocate for women and the unborn.” Rankin has been endorsed by the Arkansas Right to Life and Concerned Women for America.

SBA also backed Tim Griffin, candidate for U.S. House in Arkansas’ Second District, against pro-abortion State Senator Joyce Elliott.

"Joyce Elliott’s candidacy promises only more votes for the Pelosi pro-abortion agenda," Dannenfelser said. "But Tim Griffin will bring the leadership experience of an Army JAG officer and a prosecutor to the fight for life in the U.S. House of Representatives."

Elliott refused to support a partial birth abortion ban and voted against a parental notification bill in her time as a state senator.

"Ironically, Tim Griffin represents women’s real views and needs on the issue of abortion far better than his female opponent does," Dannenfelser said. "Joyce Elliott has been no friend to women and the unborn in the Arkansas State Senate."

"Refusing to support Arkansas’ ban on partial birth abortion is an extreme position and the Susan B. Anthony List is committed to ensuring that Arkansas voters see the clear contrast between her pro-abortion record and Tim Griffin’s commitment to protecting," she said.
