Carson City, NV (LifeNews.com) — A new poll regarding the Senate race in Nevada shows pro-life candidate Sharron Angle has picked up some of the ground she lost in the last survey to Harry Reid. Angle and Reid, the pro-abortion senator who is the number one Democrat in the Senate, are now tied.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters shows both candidates at 47 percent apiece while five percent prefer another candidate and two percent are undecided.

Two weeks ago, Reid held a two-point advantage over Angle as his numbers kept climbing up from his lowest position.

"Earlier this year, Reid was considered to be one of the Senate’s most vulnerable incumbents. He picked up just 39% of the vote following Angle’s primary victory but has seen his own numbers improve to 41% in late June, 43% in early July, 45% in late July and 47% today," pollster Scott Rasmussen noted.

For Angle, the numbers have been heading in the opposite direction.

"The GOP nominee attracted 50% of the statewide vote following her primary victory in early June. That fell to 48% later that month, 46% in early July and 43% in late July. The current survey represents the first time her support has increased since the primary," Rasmussen said.

The other good news for Angle is that, when leaners are included in the total, Angle attracts 50% of the vote, while Reid picks up 48%.

This is the first Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 survey in Nevada to include leaners, those voters who initially indicate no preference for either of the candidates but answer a follow-up question and say they are leaning towards a particular candidate.

Angle picked up endorsements from National Right to Life and the Susan B. Anthony List pro-life groups after she won the Republican primary and Nevada Right to Life backed her as well.

“The State of Nevada is fortunate to have a champion of the unborn running for United States Senate against Harry Reid,” Jeremy McNeil, director of its PAC, told LifeNews.com. “While a state legislator, Sharron Angle consistently voted according to her pro-life convictions and sponsored significant pro-life legislation.”

“Sharron Angle and Harry Reid stand in stark contrast on the issue of abortion. While Harry Reid asserts he is pro-life, his actions belie his words,” McNeil said. “Reid has helped spearhead the Obama Administration’s radically pro-abortion agenda, including blocking an amendment to prevent the federal government from subsidizing health plans that cover abortion on demand and voting to fund the U.N. Population Fund, which has significant ties to government-coerced abortions in China.”
