Little Rock, AR (LifeNews.com) — If new polling data is any indication, pro-life Congressman John Boozman is just months away from Arkansas voters naming him as their next U.S. senator. Two polls show Boozman with a commanding lead over pro-abortion Senator Blanche Lincoln, his Democratic opponent in November.

Magellan Strategies, a marketing and political research firm conducted a new poll showing 59.9 percent of Arkansans back Boozman while just 29.4 percent support Lincoln.

Boozman’s support is broad-based and includes two demographic groups that were key to the Democrat’s success in 2008: independents and young voters.

Among independents,Boozman is leading by 45 points (63% Boozman/17% Lincoln) while among young voters (18-44) he leads her by 40 points (64% Boozman/24% Lincoln), the new survey found.

Meanwhile, a new poll commissioned by Talk Business shows Boozman with a 25-point lead over Lincoln, 57% to 32%.

"Boozman has a strong lead in this race if for no other reason but for the anti-incumbent, anti-Lincoln sentiment that exists in the state’s current political landscape. Lincoln is coming off a bruising primary election in which she only earned 52% of the Democratic vote," the publication said of its survey. "Boozman had an easier time even in a crowded field of GOP challengers. There were few real heated or nasty exchanges in that primary versus the hard-hitting, heavyweight fight between Lincoln and Lt. Gov. Bill Halter."

Though Boozman has a clear lead, the magazine says Lincoln has the potential to cut into it and rebound — but whether it will be enough to win on election day is another story.

"Lincoln’s fundraising advantage – $1.9 million to Boozman’s $484,000 – is a good step for her to make this race more competitive, but she will also have to find ways to define Boozman negatively, something we’ve seen signs of in recent weeks," it said.

During his tenure in Congress, Boozman has compiled a solid pro-life voting record with the National Right to Life Committee, and has a 100% pro-life rating for this session of Congress. He voted against the pro-abortion health care bill and for attempts to limit abortion funding in it.

On the other hand, Lincoln has a 0% pro-life rating — having supported the pro-abortion bill, opposing health care coverage for unborn children, and backing the taxpayer funding of pro-abortion groups that lobby or perform abortions in other nations.
