Carson City, NV (LifeNews.com) — Two pro-life groups say now is the time for pro-life advocates to rally around GOP Senate primary victor Sharron Angle and support her in her bid to unseat pro-abortion Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid.

The National Right to Life Committee and the Susan B. Anthony List are uniting together with the pro-life candidate to take on her pro-abortion opponent.

“In the state legislature, Sharron Angle was a strong advocate for life,” said National Right to Life Political Director Karen Cross.

She told LifeNews.com, “Our endorsement reflects Sharron Angle’s unwavering commitment to renewing a culture of life in Nevada and throughout the nation.”

Melissa Clement, the president of the NRLC affiliate Nevada Right to Life, also joined in in supporting Angle.

“Sharron Angle has a perfect pro-life voting record in the Nevada legislature, and was the lead sponsor of pro-life legislation,” Clement said. “Nevada Right to Life PAC is pleased to join National Right to Life PAC in endorsing Sharron Angle for U.S. Senate.”

Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser, whose group supported Sue Lowden in the primary, also issued an endorsement for Angle today.

"In Nevada we experienced an embarrassment of riches, with two pro-life women running for the Senate Republican primary and taking over 66 percent of the vote combined," said Dannenfelser. "With her victory, Sharron Angle is poised to unseat Harry Reid, the leader of the Senate and the key proponent for Obama’s health care plan that included taxpayer funding of abortion."

NRLC legislative director Douglas Johnson said Reid may claim he is still pro-life, but his actions and voting record betray such claims.

“When Reid wrote his health bill, he rejected language that already had been adopted by a big bipartisan majority in the House to prevent federal subsidies for abortion, and he substituted language that would result in federal subsidies for abortion coverage,” said Johnson.

“This is typical of Reid who for many years has cast occasional pro-life votes for political camouflage when his vote was not decisive, but who has been a major ally to the pro-abortion lobby on big issues," he added.

Angle opposes using government funding for abortions and "has proven her commitment to protect our most vulnerable citizens – our unborn children," Right to Life said.

"Sharron Angle’s exemplary pro-life voting record should earn her the support of all voters who are concerned with the right to life and with the protection of the most vulnerable members of the human family," the group continued.
