Emily’s List Fundraises for Barbara Boxer After Pro-Life Groups Back Fiorina

Sacramento, CA (LifeNews.com) — Sensing that Barbara Boxer, the California Democrat who is the leader of the pro-abortion forces in the Senate, is in for the election of her life, the pro-abortion group Emily’s List emailed its members with a desperate plea for help in bankrolling her campaign.
Stephanie Schriock, the president of the group, which only supports candidates who back taxpayer funding of abortion and partial-birth abortions, emailed her supporters.
"Senator Barbara Boxer needs our help, and she needs it now. In this charged election year, Republicans see an opportunity to oust the woman who has championed our issues since we helped elect her in 1992," Schriock writes.
"Barbara’s facing a critical filing deadline in just one week, followed immediately by a high-profile GOP primary that has every side of the far-right — Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, the national GOP, and even Rick Santorum — getting involved in this race. And they all have one goal in mind: taking Barbara out," the pro-abortion activist added.
Schriock complains that pro-life advocates appear to be rallying around pro-life Republican candidate Carly Fiorina, who faces pro-life state legislator Chuck DeVore and pro-abortion former Rep. Tom Campbell in the GOP primary.
"The GOP’s handpicked candidate, Carly Fiorina, has been lining up key anti-choice endorsements recently, including Sarah Palin, former ultraconservative GOP Sen. Rick Santorum, National Right To Life, and the right-wing Susan B. Anthony List," Schriock told her troops.
"SBA immediately went on the attack, saying they’d been waiting for a candidate like Fiorina to throw her hat in the ring ‘since the day Barbara Boxer was elected’ — and they cited our endorsement as a reason to unseat Barbara," she added.
"Polling shows any of these Republicans will give Barbara the fight of her career — especially with the GOP eager to spend whatever it takes to oust our progressive favorite," Schriock writes today. "For her to continue doing her job, we’re going to have to do ours."
The California Republican primary election is June 8 and the winner will challenge the 18-year incumbent in the November election.
Exacerbating the concern for Emily’s List, Boxer has not hit the important 50 percent mark in any polls taken concerning the California Senate race since March.
