Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — Students for Life of America, the national pro-life organization for college and university students, is sponsoring a web site and petition to rally pro-life advocates against the nomination of pro-abortion Solicitor General Elena Kagan for the open Supreme Court position.

Kristan Hawkins, Executive Director of Students for Life of America, says the website IOpposeKagan.com is "dedicated to showing pro-life disappointment with President Obama’s Supreme Court pick."

"On the site IOpposeKagan.com, pro-life Americans can make their voices heard by signing a petition against Kagan’s confirmation to be sent to their U.S. Senators," Hawkins says.

"Kagan, the former Dean of Harvard Law School is on record supporting tax-payer funded abortions," she said, as one of many reasons to oppose her nomination.

She remarked that Kagan “could mean 30 to 40 more years of Roe v. Wade. The youth of America will not tolerate the pro-abortion agenda of the Obama administration.”

Kagan also pointed out that, when speaking about a future Supreme Court nominee, President Barack Obama said in April that he wanted “somebody who is going to be interpreting our Constitution in a way that takes into account individual rights, and that includes women’s rights.”

Hawkins says those comments make it clear that Kagan is an abortion advocate whose views of the law and Roe v. Wade make her incompatible with the pro-life view.

LifeNews.com is a co-sponsor of the IOpposeKagan.com web site.

Since her nomination, Kagan has been opposed unanimously by pro-life groups for her pro-abortion position and lack of judicial experience.
