Sacramento, CA (LifeNews.com) — California U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina picked up another pro-life endorsement on Wednesday adding to two she already has. Meanwhile, the head of another pro-life group said he is backing her Republican primary opponent, Chuck DeVore.

Looking to defeat pro-abortion Senator Barbara Boxer in November, the political arm of the National Right to Life Committee endorsed Fiorina.

"It is clear that Carly Fiorina is a strong advocate for life and is a candidate who can win," National Right to Life Political Director Karen Cross told LifeNews.com. "She supports pro-life legislative efforts to protect innocent human life – unborn children and medically disabled or dependent persons whose lives are threatened by abortion or euthanasia."

"Carly Fiorina is serious and sincere in her respect for the sanctity of human life," added Cross. "She is committed to take up the cause of life in the United States Senate and we look forward to working with her on those efforts."

The endorsement has National Right to Life joining the California Pro-Life Council and the Susan B. Anthony List, two pro-life groups that are already siding with Fiorina.

Meanwhile, Steve Mosher, the president of the Population Research Institute, told LifeNews.com he is endorsing DeVore.

“The California Senate race has national implications," he said. “Pro-lifers have the opportunity of a lifetime to put the U.S. Senate back in pro-life hands by electing a rock-solid senator from California. Chuck DeVore would work hard in Washington to undo the damage caused by the ultra-liberal Barbara Boxer these last 28 years.”

“Unlike certain politicians that I see in Washington on a daily basis,” says Mosher, “Chuck will be a reliable friend of Life and Family once he has been sworn in as the next U.S. Senator from California.”

“I say this with confidence because I have known Chuck for 25 years. He is a U.S. Army Reserve lieutenant colonel, a former Reagan Administration official, and has been a champion of the pro-life cause his whole life, including these past six years in Sacramento," Mosher added about his tenure as a state legislator.

Although both DeVore and Fiorina take a pro-life stance, the latter is seen by some pro-life advocates as having a better chance by the pro-life groups of capturing the GOP nomination and defeating pro-abortion Sen. Barbara Boxer.

CPLC board member Mike Spence worries that Devote and Fiorina will split the pro-life vote in the state and pave the way for pro-abortion former congressman Tom Campbell to get the GOP nomination — so CPLC believes pro-life advocates need to line up behind one candidate to ensure a pro-life advocate captures the nomination to face Boxer.

In the GOP primary, Campbell has been shown with 34 percent to 27 percent for Fiorina and 14 percent for DeVore.

The California Republican primary election is June 8 and the winner will challenge the 18-year incumbent in the November election.

Boxer has not hit the important 50 percent mark in any polls taken concerning the California Senate race since March.
