Columbus, OH (LifeNews.com) — The political action committee of the Ohio Right to Life Society today announced its endorsements of Ohio’s federal and state candidates in contested races for the May 4 primary election. Some of the races will see competition based on the national vote on pro-abortion health care.

Ohio Right to Life is backing Republican Congressional candidates Tom Ganley in the 13th district and Jim Renacci in the 16th district.

They both face crowded Republican primaries to take on Democratic Reps. Bettey Sutton and John Boccieri in November — both of whom are pro-abortion.

"As a result of the health care vote, Ohio’s 18 congressional races will garner national attention as pro-life Ohioans remind those who voted in favor of the largest expansion of abortion in our nation’s history that indeed their voting record does have consequences," Ohio Right to Life director Mike Gonidakis told LifeNews.com today.

"This election cycle will dictate the course of our country as we hold the ability to return a pro-life majority to the United States House of Representatives. The philosophical direction of Congress hangs in the balance. It is an absolute responsibility for the pro-life movement to support these endorsed candidates," he said.

"Ohio faces a crucial test as we elect statewide candidates who will sit on the powerful apportionment board, which will decide the makeup of state legislative seats," he added.

The Ohio Right to Life PAC is backing both Dave Yost and Seth Morgan for State Auditor.

Marshal Pitchford, chairman of the PAC, told LifeNews.com, "Dave Yost has demonstrated a strong commitment to life, professionalism and the heartfelt desire to serve the citizens of this great state."

"Similarly, Seth Morgan’s passion for public service has clearly indicated that he will serve both Ohio and the pro-life cause well. We are fortunate to have both men running for this critical office and we are confident that either of these candidates will serve with the utmost integrity," he added.

Other Ohio Right to Life endorsements include:

* State Senator Shannon Jones, a Republican from Springboro and representing the 7th Ohio Senate District. Jones has served on the Board of Dayton Right to Life and was an advocate for life issues during her term in the Ohio House and currently within the Ohio Senate.

* Democratic Ohio House District 60 candidate Don Hanni, a former member of the Youngstown Board of Education who is challenging a pro-abortion Democrat incumbent.

* Democratic House District 17 candidate Kelli Perk, an Assistant County Prosecutor in Cuyahoga County.
