Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — Sarah Palin and her daughter Bristol are responding to comments on the Fox show "Family Guy" belittling her family and her disabled son Trig. Although Palin is a contributor for Fox News Channel that hasn’t stopped her from criticizing the show on sister company Fox Broadcasting.

Palin, via her Facebook page, complained that the "Family Guy program delivered “another kick in the gut” with a joke targeting her family.

In Sunday’s episode, “Family Guy” shows a girl with Down syndrome saying, “My dad is an accountant and my mom is the former governor of Alaska.”

Palin’s son Trig has Down syndrome and she expressed her frustrations on Facebook, saying “Fox Hollywood — what a disappointment.”

Last night, she posted another response that featured her daughter giving her thoughts on the controversy.

"People are asking me to comment on yesterday’s Fox show that felt like another kick in the gut," Palin wrote. "Bristol was one who asked what I thought of the show that mocked her baby brother, Trig (and/or others with special needs), in an episode."

"Instead of answering, I asked her what she thought. Here is her conscientious reply, which is a much more restrained and gracious statement than I want to make," she said.

In her reply, Bristol Palin said she understood that her relationship with her politico mother makes it so she and her family have to have "thick skin."

"My siblings and I all have that, but insults directed at our youngest brother hurt too much for us to remain silent. People with special needs face challenges that many of us will never confront, and yet they are some of the kindest and most loving people you’ll ever meet. Their lives are difficult enough as it is, so why would anyone want to make their lives more difficult by mocking them?" she responded.

"As a culture, shouldn’t we be more compassionate to innocent people – especially those who are less fortunate? Shouldn’t we be willing to say that some things just are not funny?" she went on to say.

The latest dustup follows another over pseudo-conservative columnist Kathleen Parker for a weekend column suggesting the pro-life former vice-presidential candidate was exploiting her developmentally disabled son.

Palin is a darling of the pro-life movement and was lauded for putting her pro-life views into practice when pregnant with Trig.

While more than 90-95 percent of pregnancies involving physically disabled unborn children like him who are diagnosed with Down syndrome are eventually killed in abortions, Palin chose life for her baby.

Since then, she has become even more outspoken against abortion and has dedicated herself to supporting families and children who are disabled.
