Birmingham, AL (LifeNews.com) — The woman who launched the undercover video investigation into an Alabama Planned Parenthood abortion center is happy state health officials placed it on probation. The health department found the Planned Parenthood coverup up cases of sexual abuse and violated the state’s parental consent law on abortion.

As LifeNews.com reported Wednesday, state health officials said the abortion center was placed on probation.

They indicated the Planned Parenthood abortion facility has until next week to submit a plan to the state health department on how it will fix the problems of not properly reporting potential cases of sexual abuse of minors to authorities as required by state law.

Live Action president and UCLA student Lila Rose portrayed a 14-year-old in an expose’ video that showed a staffer at Planned Parenthood telling a woman who appears to be a victim of statutory rape that "we bend the rules."
The Birmingham Planned Parenthood counselor tells Rose that it "does sometimes bend the rules a little bit" rather than report sexual abuse to state authorities.

“The Health Department report documents the same malpractice that we have found in state after state," Rose said.

She told LifeNews.com, "Sexually abused minors are being neglected by Planned Parenthood, which puts its own ‘abortion-first mentality’ before child protection. These are outrageous violations of state law and the Alabama Health Department should revoke the Birmingham Planned Parenthood clinic license. Alabama legislators must also ensure that no tax money is funding Planned Parenthood’s illicit activity."

The video was the sixth in Live Action’s "Mona Lisa Project," a multi-state undercover audit of Planned Parenthood’s compliance with state laws regarding minor abortion and mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse.

Rose indicated the state health department found Planned Parenthood staff at the Birmingham abortion clinic, “failed to obtain parental consent for 9 of 9 minor patients in a manner that complies with state legal requirements.”

The report also states that, “neither the Registered Nurse, the Medical Doctor, nor any other Center staff reported the suspected abuse or neglect [of a 13 year-old child] to the authorities as required by law."

Investigators following up on Rose’s video found Planned Parenthood files showing girls aged 13-15 having abortions even though they are obviously victims of statutory rape.

The document also found Planned Parenthood failed to comply with the parental consent law Alabama has in place. That requires parents to sign off no an abortion before a teenager is allowed to have one.

In the video, Planned Parenthood staffers tell the alleged 14-year-old that she can skirt parental consent laws by getting someone "with the same last name" to sign off on the abortion in place of her parents.

When the clinic workers hear that the girl’s "boyfriend" is 31, they refer her to the clinic director, Dr. Desiree Bates, telling her that Bates "does sometimes bend the rules a little bit."

After the video expose, the Planned Parenthood abortion business released a statement saying its staff normally act in a professional manner and promising an internal probe. https://www.lifenews.com/state4271.html
