Washington, DC ( — Two pro-abortion senators are drawing attention today for comments calling the forcing of Americans to pay for abortions "morally correct." Sens. Diane Feinstein and Barbara Mikulski have always been stalwart advocates for "choice" and it appears the choice they favor is forcing people to pay for abotions.

"Is it morally correct? Yes, I believe it is," Feinstein said in reacting to the Senate’s vote to defeat the Nelson amendment to stop abortion funding in the health care bill.

Her comments came in response to a question from CNS News after the Nelson vote concluded.

Feinstein added, "Abortion is legal, and there (are) certain very tragic circumstances that a woman finds herself in. Married, with an unborn baby that’s unable to survive outside of the womb, her doctor tells her it’s a threat to her health. I think she ought to have a policy available to her."

CNS News asked: "So it’s morally right for pro-life taxpayers to have to help pay for plans that cover abortion?"

"Please. We pay for a lot of things that we may or may not agree with, and taxpayers pay for it, for those things, as well," Feinstein responded.

Sen. Barbara Mikulski, who added an amendment to the Senate government-run health care bill that could lead to forcing insurance companies to pay for abortions, also believes forcing taxpayers to fund abortions is morally okay.

“I think it’s morally wrong to vote against health care," she said in her own interview with the conservative news web site.

She added that doing so would ensure "sound wonderful deliveries for children."

CNS News also asked Hawaii Sen. Daniel Akaka the same question.

"Well, that remains to be decided by–and we need to discuss all of these. I think that this is something that we have to consider and as we look at even abortion, what about diabetes, what about–you know, there are others, and we need to be a little more general than being specific," he said.

"OK, so is abortion on the same level as diabetes, would you say?" the conservative web site inquired.

"Well, it’s one of the issues. It’s one of the issues," he said.
