Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — A new CNN poll finds the majority of Americans disagree with giving pro-abortion President Barack Obama the Nobel Peace Prize. The survey also finds Obama hasn’t done anything to merit the prize, for which his name was placed into nomination, at the earliest, just days after he took over the White House.
Opinion Research Corporation surveyed 1,038 adult Americans for CNN on October 16-18.
The poll found 56 percent disapprove of Obama getting the award while just 42 percent say they think he should have received it.
Asked if "Obama has accomplished enough so far to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize," a large 67 percent of Americans say they don’t think so compared with just 32 percent agree.
Yet, regardless of whether Obama should have received it or merited the prestigious award, some 70 percent of Americans said they’re proud that an American president won it.
The CNN poll also had other bad news for Obama.
Americans approve of Obama’s job performance thus far by a 55-43 percent margin, but that 12 percent positive approval rating at 55 percent clip are the second lowest of his presidency, according to CNN. Obama was at 53-45 percent in late August but has bounced back slightly.
The poll also found, but a 51-48 percent margin, Americans say they disagree with Obama "on the issues that matter most to you."
Asked if "Obama has done anything that made you angry since he became president," some 52 percent of Americans say yes while 48 percent say no.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee’s deadline for nominations for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize was February 1, just 11 days after Obama’s inauguration. His only achievement at the time he was nominated was exporting taxpayer-funded abortions.
In his will, Swedish industrialist and inventor Alfred Nobel said the Peace Prize is meant to be awarded "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."
Yet, at the time, the only bridge building Obama had done with other countries is to take tens of millions of taxpayer funds and give them to abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood and Marie Stopes International.
Those groups would use the funds to not only perform abortions but lobby the pro-life governments of nations in places like South America and Africa to overturn their laws.
On January 23, during his first week after having taken over the White House, Obama officially scrapped the Mexico City Policy that protected taxpayers from involvement in overseas abortions for eight years.
Obama’s record at the time of his nomination for the Nobel Prize also included a litany of nomination of pro-abortion activists to key positions.
